It looks like I have an electric pump (Ameda Purely Yours) on its way to me courtesy of insurance, yay!
However, my insurance covers two pumps a year, and so I'd like to get a manual as a backup/more portable option.
What manual pump did y'all like? Do most bottle fit all pumps, so I don't have to buy two sets in case I get a Medela manual?

My medela bottles fit both pumps that I have, and I've bought other bottles that have fit it too. The standard opening bottle is pretty universal. Not the wide mouth one.

I ditto the Medela. Its the one I used for the occasional times I needed to pump. It worked fantastic. Was super duper quiet, and very portable!

I had both the Medela and Lansinoh manuals, and liked the Lansinoh much better. I let down more quickly and pumped more with it.

I loved my medela harmony manual breast pump. I have arthritis on both of my wrists and I thought it would be too hard to use a manual pump, but needed a portable one for work. It was so easy to use and not hard on my wrists at all. I liked that it didnt have many parts and it's very afforble. I think it was less than $50

@BunnyDragon: Thank you for this! I hadn't thought about my wrists... I have bad tendonitis in both of them and repetitive motion tends to hurt like the dickens.. It's good to know the Medela wasn't hard on your wrists!

anyone have experience with the avent manual? i have a bunch of free avent bottles, so i thought that would be a good one to use for me.

Another vote for the lanisoh here. I love it so much that I just got a second to do both sides at onetime occasionally even though I also have a double electric (purely yours). The manual is just way more effective for me, and quiet and portable. My Ameda and lanisoh bottles are interchangeable.

@BunnyDragon: Brand new ones are all over craigslist right now because a lot of hospitals are giving them away to accomodate the ACA.
