Did you find that it was hard to balance out the 2 registries?
We just went and registered this weekend at Babies R Us first, and then went to Target to register. I am having SUCH a hard time finding enough stuff to put on our Target registry......

I doubled up, in case someone preferred one store over the other. And then I kept watch, and deleted any of the doubles that were purchased.

@BadgerMom: did you double up on a lot of the items, or mostly the smaller ones? Ii couldn't imagine doubling up on the big ticket items! (Stroller, car seat, etc)

I had Amazon and Target. Register for lots of books if you don't have any. And diapers!

I registered at Buy Buy Baby and Babies r us... Both stores are local to my area and while i preferred to shop at BBB most of our shower guests purchased from Babies R us. If both stores carried the item i added it to both and just deleted the one that wasnt purchased. Exclusive items I kept on the registry and if they werent purchased used the completion discount.

I doubled up on mostly everything and a few big ticket items because we had close friends/family who shopped at different stores. It worked out okay, when I saw things were purchased I updated the registries as needed.

Oh alright then, so I guess I'm registering all wrong!! hahaha I tried not to double up on anything (obviously besides the things I wanted multiple of)
Looks like I should just add more stuff to my Target registry, even if I have it on my Babies R Us one anyways.

@MrsBrewer: Yep I doubled up on most things, but definitely the big things. It gives people the option, especially if they have coupons or something at one store and not the other! Like my Target card has 5% off and free shipping, so I'd rather buy the item at target than BRU.
I just think you don't want to "trap" anyone into buying, buying for example, two washcloths and nail clippers, if they would have preferred more of a big ticket item if it was on the list. Does that make sense?

@BadgerMom: Oh that totally makes sense! I definitely think I will be doubling up on stuff for the registry then. I'm off to add more!!

I registered at three stores: BRU, BBB, and a local store that has online shopping. I ended up having to go with three because I couldn't find the things I liked or needed all at one. Canada generally has less selection than the same store in the US.
I only doubled up on a few things, though, but made sure that there were a large selection of similar priced items at each store.

I've doubled up on BBB and BRU. Our stroller is only available at BBB and the crib we wanted was BRU. If the item is available at both stores then I doubled up.

We're registering at Target and Amazon. I put more big-ticket items on Amazon, as you can get better deals and there's a much greater selection. There are a few higher priced items on the Target list, but it's mostly lower priced items that most stores are likely to have in stock. Once people start buying, we'll keep an eye on both registries to adjust as necessary. Many items are available on both, so it's no problem to move things from one list to the other.
We did not double up on items because we didn't want to risk getting 2 of something. There are some things that people WANT to buy, and those would likely go first off of both lists. We found enough, I think, that people should have options with either registry. Both registries also allowed us to pick "favorites," which helped a lot.

We registered at both Target and Amazon, but we didn't double up on anything.
