I kept a private Amazon registry for myself for #2 to serve as a reminder list and to take advantage of the completion discount. But when people asked I did make it public and directed them there.

You could ask for a diaper shower perhaps? (If you use disposables)

I'd make a small registry, because I'd rather have things I needed vs. getting a ton of extra stuff I wouldn't use

We didnt have a registry but here's a list of stuff we've bought for our ds2!

Humidifier
Marpac
Washcloths
Dipes
meds cream and lotions
teething toys
Infant car seat and bases
Jj Cole bundle me
New pump parts
Feeding supplies for solids
Aa swaddles

We surprisingly ended up buying and were gifted clothes because they're both bigger boys and were opp season babies (nov and July in Michigan). Ds2 is six months now but fitting into 9/12 month clothes (all summer clothing from
Ds1.)

All this to say I'd make a similar list and send it out to sis or mom to send to family or friends who ask for it!

I made an Amazon registry and only told family when they asked. MIL and mom and grandma bought things off of it. Then I used the completion discount.

I have a friend who used Babylist for her first child recently and it seems cool! I would have used it had I known about it for my first child. I don't think it's grabby but you can't just tell people if you really feel uncomfortable that you won't be registering for this one.

I had an opposite gender child for my second, but I did get some neat things I didn't have for my first child that I wouldn't have purchased on my own.

I've never heard of babylist and I was against a sprinkle. If I could go back in time, I would have been ok with something intimate to celebrate baby. And I think a registry or Amazon list is fine to direct people towards if they ask.

It's easy to add to Amazon via universal registry and it reminded me of what I needed. I deleted the post partum stuff before sharing it with people who asked.
