@kick641: It's nice to know that I'm not the only one intimidated by it. I haven't used it until now because it was kind of expensive, and the application of it freaked me out a little. But I'll try anything to get KU this cycle.

@kick641 & @Auggiefrog: interested in what you hear about preseed; we might try it next month if we're not successful this cycle

My new Dr is going to do bloodwork on day 3 of my next cycle if we're unsuccessful (I was supposed to do it this month, but I was swamped at work on day 3 and then on day 4 we were out of town; I am so mad at myself!). Secondary unexplained IF is frustrating! We've been trying since May of last year, with 3 months off this Spring due to some surgical procedures I had to do for my lower spine.

@Hoots: fingers crossed for you! I used FF and temped with my first LO and was so OCD about it. <science nerd>

@auggiefrog @kick641: Unfortunatley, I have heard that use of the applicator is necessary, as its function is not purely for sexual enjoyment (although that is a bonus). I think the point it is to get it deep inside so that the sperm have a friendly environment to "swim" in to. I haven't used it myself, but spoke to my physician about it.

@Eko I get spoiled living in Colorado! GABF is such a highlight of fall. If I am KU then I plan to just mouth swish the beers I am serving so I can make recommendations, and drink water. All the networking parties I can drink water, saying I have already had enough beer to drink, hahaha!

Hi ladies! Very excited to be joining you all. Not really sure when to test as when I came off the pill before conceiving my son (now 14 months) & my cycles were 49 days! This is my 1st cycle back from having him so I'm going off a 28 day cycle for now but will prob be longer!

@auggiefrog: We used preseed the cycle we got pregnant with DS. I didn't use the applicator, just used it more like a lube. I don't know if that is what helped for sure but I am def going to get some more for this time around!

  12. Hoots

    kiwi / 673 posts

@kick641: @auggiefrog: I think it really depends on how serious you want to be with the Preseed. For us, not so much because it's so expensive and I'd spend a fortune on it since I have ovulation issues. We just want a fertility friendly substance rather than a sperm killer. Now, if I were using fertility drugs, I would for sure use the applicators mostly because if I have go through that already, I'm doing everything possible.

@snickers: Welcome! Spring sounds wonderful! The end of summer/beginning of fall is pretty brutally hot here. A nice cool spring breeze sounds awesome right about now.

@auggiefrog We tried the preseed and I kind of liked it! I was worried it would be sticky or it would get everywhere because I had heard those complaints but we didn't have any problems.

On another note, I'm pretty sure I finally o'd and our timing was not great. I will likely not need to test this cycle, but add me for September 3rd, anyway.

Solid smiley on cd 16 -- I sprung for the good OPKs this month and I'm glad I did. I thought I was O-ing closer to cd 19! No flashing smiley, will see if I get one tomorrow.

For those using OPKs, do you use FMU? I just took this, but wonder if I should test in am instead?

Good luck to everyone. I just wanted to chime in on the preseed conversation. I also just used it as a lube the month that we got our BFP with my son- no applicator. This time around TTC my husband was complaining it was sticky so we tried conceive plus instead. It seems to have caused or contributed to a yeast infection though. So that's pretty much a bummer. I do have a fairly sensitive who-ha though so…

    honeydew / 7235 posts

@travellingbee: ugh! Sorry about the YI... I can't use that stuff either, had the same problem. And I was really prone to infections while pregnant. The worst! Hope it goes away fast! Can you take diflucan? Or no in case you are pregnant?

  18. Mrs. Microscope

@HellobeeBoston different OPKs have different instructions... Wondfos want afternoon urine, but some of the clear blue's use fmu... What does your package say? Be sure to BD anyways! Fingers crossed!

CD18 here. I ovulated yesterday. No mistaking it this cycle. For the last few days I have had a lingering dull ache in my abdomen. Then yesterday, it grew worse and by last night, the left side of my abdomen, near the location of the ovary, was even tender to the touch. I suspect that the Clomid is the culprit for these sensations.

Have any of you experienced this?

@Bigskygirl: ugh I know - except we are three states apart until tomorrow night

I may need to push my POAS date up to 9/4. I ovulated about 4 days earlier than norm and unfortunately timing was so/so. Fertility friend uses my temps to tell me, so I wonder how accurate it is. I guess I'll see what my temp is like tomorrow.

Haven't tried pre-seed yet, but maybe next cycle. For now it just seems like one more thing to over-think.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

@travellingbee: @hellobeeboston: Ahh I'm not infection prone but I'm going to be worrying about that now.

I was going to spring for the expensive opks but they don't seem worth the money if they are still confusing. I still have enough cheapies for next cycle but they've been pretty clear for me so far.

@hellobeeboston: yay smiley!, hopefully the timing works out!! fill me in on this flashing smiley thing- I don't remember that from last time, is it something new??

  29. hellobeeboston

    honeydew / 7235 posts

@NovBaby1112: hiiii. Boo your AF arrived. Yeah, that flashing feature wasn't around last time! I believe it means a "high peak" vs just a peak(solid smiley)... But I need to read the box again, ha. . I either missed the flashing smiley or I will get it tomorrow. Will let you know. And of course I get the smiley while DH is so far away for 3 days! Grr.

@hellobeeboston: ahhh I see, technology these days! Will need to buy some new ones for this cycle since mine are so old haha. Well I still hope your timing works out and maybe you still have a few days if you didn't get the flashing smiley yet, that really stinks about traveling...

  31. Hoots

    kiwi / 673 posts

@Bigskygirl: While I'm not on Clomid, I think I ovulated on last week for probably the first time in a really long time thanks to the Metformin. Mine was ridiculously uncomfortable. It was to the point that I almost had to have my husband pick me up from work and take me home or to the ER. (that would have been really embarrassing....sorry ma'am you're not dying, you just ovulated...) So maybe it's a combination of not ovulating for awhile a well as the Clomid??

Never mind, temp dropped a few tenths. Now I'm really confused and FF changed O. Might need to get an Opk this month since my temps are bizarre.

  33. angelachase

    apricot / 306 posts

@hellobeeboston: It's the other way around! The flashing smiley means you're starting to enter your fertile window, the solid smiley means peak fertility. I always O within a day or two of the solid smiley.

@hellobeeboston: hope you're able to get good timing!! I only have the smiley face/no smiley face OPKs bit I'm intrigued by this flashing smiley business.

@hellobeeboston: The nurse told me to use Monistat. I'm on the last day.... Yuck!

  37. Hoots

    kiwi / 673 posts

@Runnergirl: So FF changed my O today too. I don't think it's right for me. All signs point to last Monday, but based on a few 10th of a degree drop on Thursday and then the temp elevating even higher it changed O to Thursday.

So does anyone have anyone have any advice on this? Here's my chart when I discard that one temp vs. when I leave it there. I'm so confused! I also had to take out all of the opk results (they are always positive) or put them to negative or crosshairs never appear.

  38. hellobeeboston

    honeydew / 7235 posts

@angelachase: oh thank you for clarifying!! I tried to do it again today and the smiley just stayed there - so that makes sense!! Thx!

  39. Mrs. Microscope

    pear / 1788 posts

@Hoots do you have a picture of the always positive opk? Maybe one is MORE positive if you compare side by side? Confusing chart to be sure, but it looks like you did O this month either way, and timing looks decent!

  40. mrsvdv

    apricot / 431 posts

@Hoots: I would think you O'd on Monday, the dip on Thursday might be a fluke? But it looks like your temp is staying high!
