Hellobee Boards

I painted my son's wall art, nothing fancy, but it's large canvases with a hammerhead shark and a whale that I shamelessly copied from PBK. I think I spent something like $10 per canvas, PBK wanted $129 for a set of three or something like that.

I bought the bedding on clearance, sewed the valances and bought the bed from Costco. I don't have pictures, but basically, the only splurge was the blackout roller roman shades at $99 a piece.

We just did this for our son. Wall is grey with an accent wall of dark navy. We have natural wood furniture from ikea. It’s space themed so we have the moon light from ikea in the centre of the wall and we got star and planet decals from Etsy as well. I’d take a picture but it’s not finished yet!

We just raided IKEA last weekend for my son's new room but the construction isn't finished yet. I will try to remember to post when it's finished.

@babycanuck: Big boy?! I remember when you had him! Ours is an intermediary room - DS will be 2.5 next month and I’m thinking it’s time to convert his crib. This wasn’t his first nursery (we moved) and serves as his playroom as well hence intermediary ... ETA it started off as a sky theme (clouds, moon, stars) and morphed into "all he cares about are vehicles" theme LOL.

@babycanuck: I love it! That looks so much like ours except for the flooring and window treatments. What do you want ideally? Do you have inspiration pics or ideas? If yes I bet I (we) could help you source it cheaply! Sometimes really small changes make a big difference. Also if you don't mind me asking - how is the toddler bed going? It sounds like your DS is more advanced - is he already asking to go potty on the potty?

@babycanuck: LUCKY MAMA!! I am dreading potty training. Ugh. Story for another day. Double and queen beds from IKEA are very low to the ground - I know bc I had one in law school haha. Your son sounds super smart; getting potty training so early and transitioning to a toddler bed no problem! Do I remember correctly that you all are also one and done? (If thread jacking, wall me :)).

We didn't do much with his nursery as I know he would grow out of it quickly. Our crib was a cheap $99 one from IKEA. The changing table was an old IKEA dresser that we already had (we put a changing pad on top of it). So you can say we saved the money for his big boy room.

We did the big boy "transformation" around this time last year, when DS was 5. There is now a little love seat (from PBK) in front of the bed, and a lamp on the night stand but we never took another pic. I always intend to hang artwork on the wall which hasn't happened yet.

ETA: DH wanted a full bed for DS. This is the cheapest one from Land Of Nod (now Crate Kids) back then. The beddings are all sale/clearance items from Land Of Nod. The nightstands are old things we already have from Ikea. The dresser (on the bottom right) is also from ikea. DS picked the wall color and he wanted grey (amongst hundreds of wall paint color chips at the store). I love my boy so much lol

The drawers are the only downside, sometimes the front comes loose... I think I may end up super-gluing them together.

Admittedly, I care a lot about my son’s room and am still not 100% satisfied with it. His room needs curtains and an area rug, but I will tackle that when we get him a big boy bed. This is a pic of my splurge wall- I absolutely love the wallpaper and LO stands in his crib to get a closer look. I bought the IKEA cube storage knowing that I would use them as bedside tables one day. The orange lamps, white frames are from IKEA, and art is from Etsy. The bolster pillow is front Target. This pic is from the MOTN, his room is a glorified upstairs playroom.

I have noticed more rooms on blogs or Pinterest with rooms painted 60-75% one color and the top white without molding. These rooms look fresh and modern.

It's a pretty small room with white trim and light blue walls that were supposed to be a bit more of a grey blue but look closer to sky blue in the sunlight. We are going to outfit the closet but not put a dresser in because it's small and really meant to be his play room to keep his big boy toys away from his baby sisters expected this summer. We are going to put a recliner in there too. It's not going to match too well and is a bit large for the space but we ran out of space in the living room for it with the renovation, plus we want to be able to sit in a chair and read to him in his room.

@wrkbrk: he is SO excited about the robot sheets! We had already picked out the rug and storage bin when that happened. They don't quite coordinate perfectly but it will be a nice bright cheery (if slightly cramped) room.
