My once very easy going, laid back baby has turned into a very frustrated 8.5 month old. Since turning 8 mo, she has shown her frustration by "growling" and "straining" while screaming/screeching (like a loud, heavy sigh) whenever she needs or wants something. While I know she can not talk at this age, I'm just curious if this can be normal?? Will she outgrow this? Am I missing something? It doesn't seem to be isolated to anything in particular--just when she wants attention--even if I'm playing with her.
She is a great eater (started BLW about one month ago) and SSTN with two 1.5 hr naps a day. No teeth yet and not quite crawling but reaching all other milestones.
I'd love any feedback or tips!

My son was very demanding during the month before he learned how to crawl. Maybe she is frustrated that she's not mobile?

Would you be interested in teaching her a few signs? At least she could communicate a few things- water, milk, eat, sleep, book, more, all done, please, thank you.

@ElbieKay: it very well could be. We are definitely mindful of the way we express our emotions and she's an only child so I don't think it's for wanting attention. She is happy and playful until she gets "frustrated". Sometimes it's right before feedings or naps/bedtime but sometimes it can be if I'm not feeding her fast enough
I'm hopeful as she becomes more mobile and vocal, she will outgrow this. Thanks!

@youboots: yes!! I have been trying to show her "more, please, thank you, all gone" but so far she hasn't picked up on it. It's so tough to know what's going on in their little minds at this age but my biggest fear is that it could mean something more than general baby "talk".

As far as signs, I wouldn't worry about please and thank you yet. My 3 year old is good with please and thank you's now, but we didn't stress it until later. We just did eat, more, and all done to start. Maybe simplifying would help?

@nugget16: I agree that she may be frustrated with trying to learn new things. We started doing signs with my LO around that age and I almost gave up because he didn't seem to be interested. I would pick one at a time to really stress. Like more or go. Those can be fun to turn into a game. Once LO got those two he quickly added a few more and those held us over until he was talking more.
