I have only painted my nails once since Zuma has been born. ONCE in 7 weeks. Are you kidding me? Considering I got my nail tech license while I was pregnant, this is so unlike me. Atleast she hasn't been missing out. She gets a mani weekly.

And about the fact that Zuma might or might not have had painted nails at 12 hrs old... she went to a wedding, she needed nice nails!

Do you use special polish and remover on your wee poppet? I just couldn't imagine that the chemicals in nail polish and remover would be good for a baby

If by special you mean free of toluene, DBP, formaldehyde and carcinogens, then yes.

@anonysquire: how do you do it?! I can't even paint A's toes without them looking like a disaster. Well I suppose part of it is because she moves her toes all over so the polish ends up everywhere lol. I won't attempt finger nails on either girl for a little while for that reason

@Bao: When she was teeny tiny, I had to use a tiny nail brush. Like the tip was smaller than a toothpick. But now I just use the brush in the bottle and wipe it off really well. It's hard but so fun Oh and I wait til shes asleep to do it. But sometimes she jerks in her sleep and we get to start over haha.
Not sure if you can see in this pic but she has tiny little blue dots on her white nails. Now that was hard!

That's too cute but I'm glad I got a son I can do hair but don't like to and definitely aren't any good at nails I can blearily paint my own lol but I just love baby Zuma she's so stylist how fun

I'm wondering the same thing, what brands to you use? I have some piggy paint that I got at my shower but I haven't seen a safe way to remove it so haven't used it yet.

Not the OP, but am I a fellow nail addict. Most big brands like OPI, China Glaze, and Zoya are 3-free (free of Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, and Formaldehyde). Most indie brands are also usually 3-free but check with the seller to make sure (indie brands are polishes on etsy).
Zoya is my favorite because it's actually 5-free (free of Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, and Camphor).

I can't even clip DD's nails never mind paint them!! She freaks and thrashes about if I even try! DH has to bite them

Great job on the polish!
Suncoat Girl also makes water based polish for little girls, if anyone is interested in polish for playtime. It washes off after a few times, being water based, but it's still fun.

Oh man, my baby is 10 months old, and I've only painted my own nails twice, because I felt so guilty when my hand ended up in his mouth for any reason. I use mostly 5-free polishes but still...just couldn't do it.

Is it me... Or do you have the easiest newborn ever?!
I soooo was not painting nails at that age. Even at naptime she would wake up if I had tried that! Heck she would wake up if the swing stopped! At 3 months I could barely get her handprint for Xmas ornaments. I'm totally jealous and hoping for that kind of baby with #2, lol!
Relevant to the topic, I had no idea this kind of polish existed!
