We need to buy a sleeper sofa that will get a lot of use by visiting grandparents so we want to make sure that the mattress is comfortable and supportive. I'm not sure where to begin looking. When we go to Pottery Barn or West Elm, it's not like we can take a long nap on their pullouts!
If anyone has any personal recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

We just bought a Radely Sofa bed from Macys.
I layed on it when I was in the show room and decided to get the memory foam one. It was pretty comfortable but you need to let the memory foam fluff up so you will need to pull it out an hour before sleeping.

It's an ottoman that turns into a twin or full bed. Great function and doesn't take up a lot of space. If you need a queen bed, you can use two of them together.

I don't know the brand (maybe lay-z-boy?) but my aunt recently bought one to use at her cabin that has an inflatable mattress in the couch. It was SUPER comfy, and you can inflate it to make it as firm as you'd like. I also liked it because it's thicker than most pull out mattresses, so you don't feel the beam in the middle like on traditional pull outs.

I'm assuming you may need something that is wider than a twin but we bought a nice deep loungy couch that is basically a twin bed with the back cushions off. It is super comfortable and we don't have to worry about sagging as all the pull-outs seem to do.

@HappyBaker: Yes, we ended up with a LazyBoy queen sleeper sofa- memory foam with an air mattress topper- and have been very happy with it! It takes an extra minute or so to set up because you have to put air into it with a pump, but it's very quick and easy. It ends up being nice and thick, like a real mattress, and all our guests have been super comfortable on it!
I was a bit worried that the air mattress topper might pop or deflate but it's been great so far. We've only have it for 3 months but it really gets a lot of use.
Also, I don't love the look of most LazyBoy furniture. We spent ten years living in NYC before moving to the 'burbs and our style is more modern/minimalist. I was able to find a style of couch that fits in with our family room. It's not my favorite looking piece of furniture but it's fine enough. I couldn't find our exact sofa on their website but it looks some like this:
