So DH and I are going on vacation in 2 weeks and I'm really early into my pregnancy... Like 4 weeks, 1 day early. I haven't had my first appointment yet and probably won't until we come back from vacation. I had plan to snorkel a lot on this trip (using just fins and a snorkel mask) but now that I think about it, I wonder if there are any precautions with being underwater. Any bees have any experience with this? Any advice would be lovely

You could always check with your ob! Im sure its probably fine, although you may feel motion sick!

I snorkeled on our babymoon at 32 weeks pregnant everyday and my doctor cleared it. She just said no scuba diving
The only thing I remember being super cautious about was making sure my belly (which was massive at that point) didn't hit the coral. Have a great time!

I snorkeled when I was around 12 weeks with LO1 and there were no issues

Sounds totally fine! We went on a snorkel trip once and there was a very pregnant woman on it

I still swim at 36 weeks and would not hesitate to snorkel. If you're worried I would call and ask but I would bet it's fine! Have fun!

I was 12 weeks when I went snorkeling for the first time.
I asked my OB about it, she said I should be fine but she says a lot of women under estimate their water intake at the beach ... the heat and stuff... she says make sure I bring more water than I think I need to stay hydrated.
You should just double check with your OB just in case

I snorkeled, no issues.

I snorkeled on my baby moon at 28 weeks. Just know that you might get really cold and really hungry sooner than you might expect. I was like "must eat food NOW!" So bring snacks and a change of clothes.

No issues at all. The issue with scuba diving is that pregnancy will mess with the rate of nitrogen off-gassing on ascent - leading to greater chance of decompression sickness, or the bends. Also, there is a chance that the bubbles might pass through the placenta and harm the baby. But with snorkeling there is no nitrogen absorption, and no chance of off-gassing too quickly. You're good to go!

I was just reading my do's an don't pamphlet from my OB and it only said no scuba diving, I am sure snorkeling is fine as long as your not getting really out of breath when doing it.

I was cleared to go snorkeling at about 23 weeks and my OB actually encouraged it. He said as long as I wasn't scuba diving I was fine.

Yep I snorkeled at 20 weeks no problem! The only personal issue I had was that the water was very choppy that day and I got very nauseous while snorkeling so while it was lots of fun and beautiful I didn't feel so great. But I'm the exception to the rule I'm sure! Have fun!!!!

I snorkelled at 7 weeks. No issues, and it was one of the best experiences of my life! I was not going to miss out while in Belize
