This is another spin-off question on childcare/date nights/kids time away. Whenever these types of posts come up on Hellobee, I feel a surge of major mom guilt. Our LO has been away from us SO MUCH MORE than it seems like the average parent, and most with his grandparents. He is 13 months, and is at their house as I speak away for about the 5th time overnight since he was born (usually 2 days at a time when we do this for trips, but this is first time that it's for no reason except going through a rough time and needed a break). I always feel so guilty about it, but do like the time away...

But it just seems like most of the hive doesn't do that. My husband reminds me endlessly how much time we spent with our grandparents growing up, and it's true - I practically lived with them at times. Has parenting just changed? Did our parents just value shipping us off more? Or is the difference that most of the LOs we read about on HB aren't school aged yet? Thoughts?
