A couple more obscure ones are the nanny from the Au Pair movies, and a very short lived tv series wherein the nanny was also a witch.

I would pick Mary Poppins! She's friends with Dick Van Dyke and animated birds. You can't beat that.

@mrbee: NOOOO! But the Nazi's were all around in that movie and after her family! Oh God, that wouldn't be a very good story if the nanny turned out to be a Nazi.

Ay yo, oh ay! I'd go with Tony. He could teach my kid how to tap dance, sing, clean the house, play baseball, street smarts since he's from Brooklyn, and how to cook great Italian food.

Although Mrs. Garrett was the housekeeper--she also took care of Arnold, Willis, and Kimberly while she was at the Drummond household (Diff'rent Strokes). And then made it a full-time job as housemother on The Facts of Life.

Mary Poppins for me too! Who was the nanny in Bedknobs and Broomsticks? Is that even the name of it? I think she was magical and sang about a spoonful of sugar?

I'd want Maria from Sound of Music.

I would love someone who can sing and craft (make clothes out of curtains) with my LO.
