spinoff of do you notice other people's wedding rings... do people notice YOUR wedding ring?

I had a really funny thing happen this weekend. I'm not a flirty person at all and rarely get hit on -- I put out a pretty "taken" vibe I think! But this weekend, my bff had a birthday party at a bar and we recognized this guy from across the room and after going over to talk to him, found out he was from our same Midwestern town. It turned out there was ANOTHER birthday party for someone from our hometown at the same random Brooklyn bar (such a small world!!) so there were a bunch of people we knew there but hadn't seen in like 10 years. Anyway, I ended up talking to this guy for a really long time--he grew up around the corner from me, and he works in a similar field as I do so we had lots to talk about. I thought he'd realized that I was married because a) I wear rings and b) my husband kept coming over to give me drinks periodically, but I guess the guy didn't notice all that because at one point, dh came over and I said something about him as "my husband," and this guy said, "oh, I didn't realize you were married..." Oops! so awkward!! I didn't really think anything of talking to him for so long since I was just being friendly and we grew up together, but I guess he thought he was flirting??
