@QueensBee: she liked it. I got back from BRU, DH took the front off the crib and she was jumping on the bed. She was excited to read stories together in bed too.

@Smurfette: I really hope she sleeps good for you tonight. Such a big girl now.

@ALV91711: she slept all night. Sat morning I heard her and looked at the monitor and she wasn't in bed. She was trying to open the door. Last night was good too. This morning I heard her before she got out of bed.

@Smurfette: Sounds like it's going pretty well!!!
We had E's bday party yesterday and it was a lot of fun! i have a TON of cookies leftover. I was too tired to really take a lot of photos (plus we weren't totally set up before guests arrived!), but a friend of mine took some for me.

@blackbird: Glad to hear it was a great party! I can't believe all our babies are two.

@Adira: I KNOW!!!!
E's had a rough few days, behavior-wise. I think some of it's that her molars may be coming in, but I won't pick her up much anymore and it just sends her into a catastrophic meltdown. Such big feelings. I'm having a hard time managing, as my patience wears more and more thin. And then I also feel bad for telling her no, i won't pick her up. I just wish she understood!

@blackbird: Glad that it went great! Send me some cookies! Or maybe not, cause then I will eat them
Toddler bed is still going good. She even took a two hour nap Sunday.

@Smurfette: ha, why do you think i put them in the galley at work?!?!?! GET THEM OUTTA MY HOUSE!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@blackbird: Two year old feelings are intense! Xander will throw a fit over the silliest things and I'm just like "WTF is wrong with you???" Like yesterday we were going to go for a walk and I was trying to get him to wear a sweatshirt and he just flipped out, rolling on the ground flailing about. I end up just staring at him because I'm in shock.

@Adira: YES! Her reactions to the littlest things are HUGE! This morning, her waffle broke into a few pieces (or SHE broke it into a few pieces) and she just melted down hard core. I had to walk away from her a few times this weekend because I just thought I was going to snap and yell or something, so after i explained to her that I couldn't pick her up or let her throw X or whatever it was (she also hit me a few times this weekend, which results in a stern NO, WE DON'T HIT and me setting her down/walking away), i just had to walk away. A friend reminded me that it's not my job to STOP her tantrums, just give her a safe outlet. Well, sometimes the safest outet is away from me, LOL

@blackbird: @Adira: Yeah when she loses it over something stupid, or even when I tell her no about something, I just let her cry. She might sit there or she will walk around the house just crying. But I find ignoring her helps and seems to cut it down shorter. I just don't have the patience for it.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@blackbird: It's also possible that she's reacting to the fact that she's about to be a big sister. Xander started acting out a lot more right before and right after Logan was born. More tantrums, more hitting us, etc. He still has the normal random two-year-old tantrums, but I feel like things are better now than they were right before and after Logan's birth! So hopefully once your new one is here and E gets used to being a big sister, things will settle down a little.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Smurfette: Sometimes that definitely works for us. LIke when she wants up/in my lap. Well, if i sit next to her on the couch, she keeps crying and putting her arms up. I think she hopes that I will give in, so if i keep sitting there, she just keeps screaming in my ears and it elevates. But if i walk away for a bit, she calms down.
@Adira: I was wondering that, but honestly, I'm not sure she understands a baby is coming! Or maybe I just underestimate how much she understands. We've read her some books but I'm just not sure if she gets it...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@blackbird: I felt the same about Xander! He was 21 months when Logan was born and I definitely didn't think he had any clue I was having a baby or what that really meant. But he was definitely acting up more in that month or two leading up to Logan's birth and for 4-6 weeks after he was born!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@blackbird: So now I'm really curious how E will be after the baby is born and a couple months after that!

@blackbird: Glad the party was fun. Good idea to take all the leftover cookies to work. I find melt downs/tantrums happen more often when he is tired. During the week lately there are lots of bedtime meltdowns, tonight was half hour early bedtime because of this.

@ALV91711: yep for sure! I think her molars are moving, which is causing shorter naps and earlier wake ups, which inevitable causes a bad cycle of crankiness
pomelo / 5621 posts
@blackbird: I'm so not ready for the next round of molars. I looked the other day and don't see any swelling yet, but would really like something to blame this craziness on.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@ALV91711: I can't really see anything but our daycare lady thinks it's molars, too-she said they take a long time to break through and are very painful. Sigh. With her teeth, they move a little, hurt, then stop....move a little/hurt......eventually breaking months later. She's usually such a rockstar sleeper that only teeth and ear infections seems to affect her, so we're keeping tabs on it. Please no more ear infections!
I think all her canines are through, though? Maybe all but one

Happy Friday, everyone! Just wanted to say hello and see how your weeks are going.
Toddler bed sleep is the same. He takes a long time to fall asleep (7:30-8:30pm) and wakes up early (4:30am) to climb into our bed.
We enrolled him in a Super Squirts soccer class that started yesterday. It was so cute watching all the two year old run around to kick the ball. Pete was very shy and and clingy though. The coaches really had to encourage him to participate. I'm hoping he'll feel more comfortable and enjoy it more after a few sessions!
He started "reading" his books to us and it's just so adorable. His favorite one is "Where is the Green Sheep?" by Mem Fox and he reads it with such expression. I love hearing his little voice and wish he would let me take a video of it, but of course he stops as soon as I pull out the phone!

@QueensBee: So glad the transition to the toddler bed went smoothly for you! Although bummer about the 4:30 wake-up to join you guys. Sleep through the night, Pete! So cute about the soccer and reading to you guys!!
Things are going well here. It's finally warming up, so Xander's gotten to go outside and play a bunch at daycare and at home, which he LOVES. He's also surprisingly polite!! He rarely just says "no" to us when he doesn't want to do something. He always says "no thank you!" And once he said, "No. Thank you though." So funny!
He's also become obsessed with these youtube videos by Super Simple Learning. They are short 2 minute songs usually and often teach something like counting, the alphabet, animals, and other things. His favorite is a song called "Hello!" where they sing "Hello! Hello! Hello, how are you?" And Xander will go around saying "harrow, harrow, harrow how ah you!" I love it!!

@Adira: How did you teach him such good manners?! I have to remind Pete to say, "please" at least 80% of the time even though I KNOW he knows to do it. Stinker! "No thank you though." That's so sweet!!
I'll have to check out those youtube videos. They sound cute. Right now, Pete is obsessed with Elmo's World which is on a Sesame Street app. We had to cut him back to two viewings a day, once 10 minute episode after breakfast and one 10 minute episode after his bath, because he was becoming addicted!

@QueensBee: Soccer sounds like fun. They must be so cute running around. I hope that he starts sleeping all night in his own bed soon.
@Adira: So adorable with his good manners.
Isaac has a terrible cough that has been waking him up early the last few days and he's been coming in our bed for the last hour or so. He got a black eye at daycare yesterday. He tripped and fell and bonked his head, poor guy.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: I think a lot of his good manners come from daycare! And I have to remind him to say "please" all the time too. I think he picked up "no thank you" from me though. I say it ALL THE TIME, so I'm guessing that he's just heard it so much, he thinks "no thank you" is one word that means "no," haha.
@ALV91711: Ugh, bummer about the cough. That sucks. And poor kid getting a black eye!!

Things are good here. She has had diarrhea a couple times a day for almost a week. I was gone all weekend but DH said everyday it is getting better. Only now she is waking up so early. But otherwise DH and her had a great weekend just them.
Will add she says Thank you Mama/Dada all the time. It melts my heart every time.

@Adira: L has picked up good manners at school too! If he bumps into you he says "oh sorry mommy!" Or "excuse me, mommy!"
He's been having more intense tantrums lately and we've been doing timeouts in his room. The other day he put himself in time out. Sleep is going pretty good (knock on wood). He likes the toddler bed and it's been a pretty seem less transition. He's slept through the night three nights this week which is pretty unheard of in this house.

@travellingbee: That's awesome that the transition to the toddler bed has been so great!!!! I hope ours goes as smoothly! Bummer about the tantrums though.

@travellingbee: That is awesome!!
R had a 1am wake up. I walked in there and she is like poop Mama poop. It has been a week now. I am going to call the doctor.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Poor girl! I wonder if she has what Xander had. He had some bug that was going around our town through the schools and stuff and caused vomiting and diarrhea. The vomiting only lasted a day, but the diarrhea lasted a week or longer. We kept him home for a few days because of it. Hope she feels better soon!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I don't know what is going on. She hasn't thrown up. Last Tuesday it was bad, but she was fine and acting normal outside of the poops. Since then she has 1-2 a day. We were thinking it was teething related maybe, but a week later seems weird. She is still chewing on her fingers non stop.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Well, whatever it is, I hope she feels better soon! Diarrhea is the worst!!! Also, teething sucks. Xander's been chewing on his fingers non stop too.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: The pedi's phone advice nurse said it is totally normal to have diarrhea still if it was a virus. Told me to get her some probiotics and yogurt with cultures to help firm up the poop.
She has been teething these stupid molars for almost 2 months now. One bottom is all the way in and the other is this close to being all the way through the gums. I haven't been able to get a good look at the top gums. I can't wait to be done with teething for a while!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Good call on the probiotics. My ped has had me add probiotics to Logan's milk when he's had diarrhea and I do think it helps!
Same with Xander with regards to teething - he's been working on them for a while now. One bottom one was almost all the way through when we were at the dentist a couple weeks ago, but he's still working on the others. I can't wait to have them all up and be done!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Smurfette: @Adira: also having molar issues! Mostly last week, though.
