Sprung an air leak

@Mrs. Deer: They aren't letting him feed from the breast yet but hopefully soon. They want to make sure that he breathing well enough on his own before they try him on something new.

@beaker: Leaving was rough last night. I was happy to get a good shower and sleep in my own bed. It was also nice to be able to get my own snacks and such when ever I pleased.

Last night was rough at first because I was already stressed about leaving him. When I got home my father was watching N by himself which well never happens unless N is sleeping so. My dad was not prepared for toddler in play mode. Plus we discovered parts from my pump kit where missing so I couldn't pump on time. DH was being such a trooper about everything. When we couldn't find everything he went to store and bought the pump I had my eye on while I was pumping for N. Once things calmed down and we got into a routine it was better. I feel better rested this morning although I slept WAY longer then I meant to (like 6 hours). The only reason I woke up is because N woke up soaked. They told me at the hospital not to pick up N but transferring him for crib to changing table isn't really picking him up right? He literally clung to me.....once he was dry he went back to sleep and I pumped and then slept.

Today my FIL is here to help me with N, which has just been awesome. He is great with N and N loves him. I am hoping to just relax a little and see E after Lunch for a little while.

Quick update: Little E is getting stronger everyday. They were going to try to get him to room air only today. I was up there earlier today and he was doing great. They have stopped lipids and continued to up his feeds. We are hopeful that he will move to an open crib in the next couple of days. Here is a most recent picture.

Little E is one week old today. They discontinued his IV today and have upped his feeds to 35 ml. Tonight they should up it again to 40ml. I am hoping that they will work on weaning him to just room air only. Once he is on room air (i.e. no nasal cannula) then they will move him to an open crib. I wish he would feed from a bottle or breast more, right now most of his feeds are going through his OG tube. We start his feeds by bottle or breast but he gets tired pretty quick, so we are hoping to continue to build up his stamina. DH and I went up this evening and got some relaxing snuggle time with him. DH works so much that it is hard to get real time with E. I know that is hard for him to not get as much time as I do.

Today they even asked us to start bringing clothes to dress him in, because they plan to move him to open crib in the next day or so. Everyday we are getting closer to him coming home. I can't wait to get him into an open crib! Once he is in an open crib we can do the car seat challenge. Once he passes that he will be eligible to come home!

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers! I will keep you all as updated as I can!

    Update!!
Little E has been weaned from oxygen completely! He was also moved to an open crib today. He is almost tube free. They bumped up his feeds to 50ml but he is still getting most of his feeds through his og tube. Tonight we got him to take 23ml by bottle so almost half his feed. They said he has to take 3 consecutive feeds by bottle completely before the og tube is gone. Everyday he is getting stronger.

    Here is tonight's picture.

When I went up to see him today I got him to take his full feed. Apparently the nurses can't get him to take his full feed, I think he just prefers his mommy. However he will have to eat for them because I can't be at the hospital for every feeding. They did hear a heart murmur, so he will be getting an echo done today. They don't think too much of it because it is so common in early ones. He will likely follow up with a ped heart doctor in a couple months. Right now all his stats look awesome. He just needs to lose his feeding tube!
