DS2 is 16 weeks (4 months next week) and has rolled both from stomach to back and back to stomach several times. One week he did both many times. Now we can't get him to roll either way. What is up with that?
Other notes: He does grab his toes and roll onto his side. He hates tummy time and screams after about a minute.
Is it a problem that he WAS rolling but now isn't?

Nah, I wouldn't worry about this unless he goes for a long time without rolling again. Both my kids rolled belly to back first, but as soon as they learned to roll back to belly it was like they completely forgot they knew how to roll the other way. My son is 5 months and is still in this phase. Every time I lay him down on his back he immediately flips over to his belly. He plays happily for a few minutes and then flips out. Dude, you know how to roll back, just do it!!

My LO sort of did this. He learned to roll around 4 months then Suddenly stopped knowing how to do it. He was working hard on crawling and when he started doing that around 6 months, I think he'd forgotten how to roll! He does it now at 9 months. Our dr said as long as they've done it once, there's nothing to worry about!

@Portboston: @Truth Bombs: ok good to know. I couldn't remember DS1 doing this but wasn't sure if it was normal. So when I go to the doctor next week I'll let her know he has rolled, but isn't consistently.

Yeah, LO lost interest for a while. Now she hasn't bothered to learn to crawl because she's too efficient at getting around by rolling! She just had other things to work on for a bit I think.

Totally happened with DD. She rolled both ways several times and then just stopped for a few months. It felt like it took forever for her to become interested and start rolling all over the place.

@PawPrints: My 11 month old is the same way too. He loves sitting, wasn't too interested in rolling or crawling. Only recently, he's been more into it. I'm convinced that he's going to be a late walker.

@cascademom: Yeah she's on that track for sure. She's almost 13 months and is pulling up and taking a few cruising steps but not super interested in getting around other than crawling.

I wouldn't worry. DS rolled each way and only did it once in a while. I think he like sitting too much. Once he started crawling then he rolled more consistently.

DD did the same exact thing. I think it had to do with growth. The levers were suddenly different and what had worked a week prior suddenly didn't anymore. She relearned it a couple of weeks later when she was getting ready to crawl.
