So my husband, sister and brother n law are taking a cruise to the Bahamas next week. Going through Royal Caribbean on the Mariner of the seas. Pretty pumped and kinda nervous to be honest.
Does anyone have any tips/pointers/cautions??

Unpack, even if on trips you normally just live out of your suitcase, and store the empty suitcases under the bed. There is limited space in the cabin and its a pain to have to pull suitcases out all the time to get stuff.
Bring a power strip, there is normally only 1 or 2 outlets in the cabin

I've cruised with other lines, but not Royal. I've heard with them you need to book reservations for shows, specialty dining, and possibly regular meals too. I'd also say to make sure to bring a rashguard and lots of sunblock. The sun is super strong there, especially in the summer.
It sounds like you're going without your kids, so relax and enjoy it! Spend time on deck, spend time in the adult areas, have a special date night with your DH.

RC is amazing! Tip 1) book your port excursions before you go to make sure you get your top picks. 2) Walk the entire ship with an event/ schedule map to get a feel for where everything will take place to determine what you ultimately want to do and where to go. 3) Find the karaoke bar for late night shenanigans!

Get up early to reserve a chair if sitting close to the pool is important to you. There are lots of chairs spread out but the pool is small so many of them are far away from it.

Go to Cruisecritic.com . You can find reviews tips and tricks on the exact cruise you are going on. I really like to cruise, I rarely book my excursions thru the ship. If you do some research you can save a lot of money by booking excursions on your own.

@Crisark: Exiting! We just got back from the bahamas on RCCL.
We had the drink package. We paid about $48pp per day plus gratuities. It was worth it for us!
Bring a Lanyard or something to carry around your sea pass card.
What excursions are you doing ?

@T.H.O.U.: we just got off the ship this morning. We did the deluxe drink package and internet. It was 100% worth it. We bought a lanyard once we checked in on the ship and it was def a must. We did the dolphin close encounter on Blue Lagoon island. We had a $150 credit and ended up have $6 left so we did very well. We spent about $150 on the island but that was it. We booked another one for March of next year to take the kids on too. It was hands down the best vacation to take!!

@Crisark: Nice! Yes this was our first with the kids. They did really well. The older two LOVED the kids club and it was really nice to even have some time to do adult stuff and pack without them.
