Hellobee Boards

We have a list of something assigned to each day. But I think that I am going to skip it all and just do a gift card for each teacher. We have 4 main teachers alone this year.

This is new territory in Kindergarten, the PTO has a subset that actually coordinated and fund raised. We can supplement if we want to, but we don't have to. Feels so good to not have to be worried about a week's worth of activities.

I'm in charge for my son's preschool (11 students, one teacher). I've asked parents to give me $5-10 for a gift card that I'll deliver Friday, they can bring in a handmade card from their kiddo Monday, and I'll do (and purchase--but from everyone) flowers and a coffee order on Wednesday. It's not too much work for anyone, I don't think, but will make her feel special. Her T/Th class has a separate plan.

I'm not sure that this is a thing we do in Canada? I only ever hear about it on Hellobee. That being said, my son has a pair of socks with bacon and eggs that he's obsessed with, and all his daycare teachers know about his love for them. I went online and found some adult ones that I'm hoping will be delivered in time, and I'm going to have him give them to each of his teachers with a card.

I guess this means that I also have to do something for the teachers in the baby room for my younger son. Argh.

Giftcards for her teachers, then maybe cookies or something that can be shared.

I got D's teacher a TEACH travel mug from The Blue Envelope and a Starbucks gift card. I'm not sure what to do about A's class, because there are 3 or 4 teachers in there throughout the day. I hate to do food, because I feel like that's all they get from everyone, but that's probably what I'll end up doing.

I didn't realize there was a standard week set for Teacher Appreciation. Our DCP sent suggested items for every day of the week. LO spends the very first part of his day with his first infant teacher. I will get her coffee; she's up early! For the teachers in his current class I will bring them flowers (suggested) and probably something else.

The director has asked that we send in kudos remarks for a wall display. I have several teachers I can acknowledge that way.

We have six teachers and are assigned something every day. I like our teachers but damn, I'm not made out of time and money.

Our school is asking for cash donations (like really small - a $5 suggested donation) that will get divided among the teachers. Both boys have 2 main teachers so I threw a hundo in the pot and will get them cards.

Our school has asked for SO MUCH and while I completely appreciate our teachers I feel like it's so excessive!

$35 suggested donation per child and daily activities next week like bring flowers, bring treats for the teachers, cards, gift cards.

I just finished putting all the gifts together. I ended up doing something for each day of the week per the director's email, but managed to spend roughly the same amount at Christmas.

Our daycare has suggestions for each day. We are giving my girls main teachers and the director the daily gift, and then the supplemental teachers, cafeteria lady, accountant, nuns and priest (catholic daycare) we are rotating through the week, so they will all get something, just not everyday. It quickly gets expensive and time consuming!

The twins each have a morning teacher and assistant on the pre-k side, plus two teachers (same room) in the afternoon, plus G's two teachers. That's eight people, so whatever they get is probably not going to be super amazing. I saw some cute label to put on some donuts, but our printer is broken so I don't even think I can manage that. Sigh. Small gift cards is probably what we'll do.

Our daycare goes really overboard with a week of activities, and they ask for pooled contributions so that all the teachers (including part-time and floaters) get recognized. We chose to provide breakfast omlet ingredients, because we work and really can't take off several hours in the day to cook them breakfast or lunch. I like that we can make one contribution that goes toward all of the teachers and that parents that can't afford to contribute are NOT put on the spot with itemized lists of demands.

I think our preschool handles it really well. They provide the parents with a spreadsheet of all the teacher's favorite things (food, stores to shop at, hobbies, even charities they like). They ask each child to draw a picture for their teachers, but leave anything else up to you. But it's nice to have their favorite things so you know you're getting something they like!

We are going to bring treats one day, handmade cards another, and gift cards to Chipotle.

I am so out of the loop with daycare... Is that this week? Shoot. I just had a baby like 10 days ago so maybe I get a pass? I would normally just bake and have DS1 make a card but I'm not sure I have it in me.

@Mrs D: toiletries for the bathroom is such a good idea. I think the restroom they used is the same one parents use and that could definitely be a little more fun. I'll have to remember that for next year.

Our daycare never said anything about it. Call me a grinch, but thank god. I do not like being told that I need to appreciate people I pay to do a service. I give gifts at Christmas, I don't intend to do anything this week.

This has also been an especially crazy week with lots of stuff going and I'm not feeling particularly appreciative at the moment.

I've never understood the theme weeks. My kid is in Pre-K, and there are 23 kids in her class, why would the teacher want 23 versions of the same thing each day of the week? Our teachers work very hard for very little pay at a job that I could never ever do so I'm more than happy to show them my appreciation. But I do it with a heartfelt thank you note and a Visa Gift card because I think those are the things the teachers would most want. While I don't get on board with the school schedule, I always make a point to show our teachers how much we appreciate them at this time of year (and do my best to do so throughout the year to).

@ShootingStar: Don't you like your boss/clients/etc to appreciate your work even though you're paid to do it? I don't think of it as being "told" to appreciate them, but being reminded to show appreciation that I certainly feel.
