We hung out at the movie theater and Friendly's when we were in our early teens. Once someone had a license, we hung out at the beach. I remember our parents dropping us at the movies from about age 11. I don't know if I'd be comfortable with that now...

The mall was the place to be! Parents would drop us off for hours!

@matador84: We used to do the same, and within the past few years, our local mall instituted a rule that children under the age of 18 aren't allowed to be in the mall after 5 p.m. without parental supervision. They ID people! I got ID'd like last year and I'm 29' lol. I mean I'm sure they did it in response to some sort of issue, but still...lame.

The movies when I was in middle school and before I could drive. My dad would drop me off. You wanted to get there early to socialize with whoever else showed up on Friday night! Some not so good things happened there. No one went to go see a movie if you know what I mean.

As I got older and was able to drive myself, my friends and I would hang out at the local playground after dark and smoke cigarettes. So cool.

Once we put a large firecracker in the toilet in the bathroom there and ran. I still feel bad about that. It destroyed the toilet.

Mazza Gallerie/ The Pavillion mostly and Pentagon City with my one pal who liked to take the subway. Both were malls.

We hung out a lot at an outdoor shopping center & movie theater. It was a popular hangout for teens and Tweens and still is! Once I got a license we would go to parks or drive around making trouble like egging cars (not so proud of that).

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I used to hang out at pentagon city too! And union station, ballston... Basically I just rode the metro everywhere

When I was younger, I really only went to the movies or mall with my BFF.

As an older teen, I lived on a Base overseas, and we had/have an outdoor movie theater (free!) So we'd hang out there (up in the bleachers) or McDonald's sometimes. Or the skate park, or just go to friend's houses.

I hate when I see teens hanging out at kid's playgrounds now a days! They do it during the day here as well. One time it was like, lunch time, and there were all these teens all over the playground equipment, and they were making out! And there were moms there with kids who were trying to play! Gross

They also like to hang out at train stations here, and in the train station parking lot. Lame-o. I hope when I have kids they just have friends over!

@beaker: ah Union Station was cool, I had crepes from the food court for the first time with my bff. That was probably not the place to try crepes lol

To just "hang out" there was a 24 hour diner in the town i lived in and also the mall or small concerts/shows at some local places (valentine's, saratoga winners)

To drink, we also had code names for random get together places. The tracks, the trestle, the field. That's where you'd usually find me on a friday in high school.

The mall, the.movie theater, the bowling alley, friendly's, papa ginos, or just walking up and down main street. There was an under 21 nightclub in town but my Mom wouldn't let me go until I was like 17.

I grew up in a small town, so we didn't have many hangouts. However, we were often at Barnes and Noble or a friend's house where the dad was pretty lax. We avoided hanging out at the mall.

@Greentea: Awww "cruising" was our favorite word to use! My bestie had older cousins who drove and they would just drive us around from point A to B and hang out with us too.

We would hang out at the mall, arcades in the mall, roller skating rinks, and movie theaters. Funny to remember how nobody had a cell phone back then and we survived and even had fun! We did use pay phones though. LOL

Everyone went to this really good deli that's open 24 hrs. So lame now that I think back!
