In the past few days, K's nursing sessions have been very short (like 4-7 min.) and she's kind of been lazy at sucking? If that makes sense? She is definitely teething, though hasn't seemed to be in pain yet. I know babies go on "nursing strikes" during teething, but she's not refusing. She just seems to kind of hang out on the boob after a few minutes and stops really drinking. This morning, she really only actively nursed for 2 -3 min. I know I shouldn't be too worried as long as she's still having wet & dirty diapers, but wondering if your LO did this, how long does it last? What do you do during a nursing strike?

LO did this alll the time from months 4-7...for him it was just major distraction. I started doing breast compressions while nursing to keep him interested, and started nursing before naps, when he was tired, to make sure he got enough milk in for the day. I don't think it was related to teething for us.

Xander's been nursing for shorter periods than he used to too. I'm not sure if it's teething or distraction or just becoming more efficient! He still goes 3 hours between eating, regardless of how length of time on the boob, so I'm assuming he's still eating enough.

R is nursing for shorted periods too. But is still eating every 3 hours. She is drooling a ton, and constantly wants to eat her hands, but the pediatrician didn't think she was teething yet.

We have been going through this the last couple days. A lot of it seems to be distractions, but he isn't eating more frequently and the diaper output is still good.
I hope it doesn't last too long.

We haven't had trouble with short sessions or distracted nursing, but her latch does change while teething and I have a bit of nipple soreness for a couple days on either side of a new tooth.

Well, she is back to having longer nursing sessions about 1/2 the time. She does get distracted easily these days, but it doesn't seem to be a direct cause of shorter nursing sessions.
@oliviaoblivia: She does have a different, weird latch sometimes, so I do think it's teething related.

@shopaholic: my wee girl has a change in latch every time she works on new teeth, I figure it's her adjusting to the changes in her mouth and thankfully it only lasts a couple of days. Just this last week she had a day where she bit me each time I latched her on - not cool baby, not cool!

@Kemma: ouch! I'm hoping we still have a couple if months before I even see a tooth!
