My DH and I've talked about this recently since we will be moving next year. We absolutely love his daycare and he will have gone through 4 classrooms by the time we move (and spent time in some others on days we can't pick him up until closing). We are going to have lunch catered for all the staff when the time comes.

I think a card is a wonderful gesture, especially if your LO is old enough to color in it or even write their name. If you want to go above and beyond that, I agree with @ms.line: that a food gift would be appreciated.

We left our son's home daycare 7 months ago when we moved to a new city. We did a card and a box of pasteries (from an amazing local bakery). They loved it. I think food for everyone to share is a good choice in this situation.

@californiadreams: We sent in chocolate covered pretzel rods with sprinkles on them that were individually wrapped when he moved rooms. I had a friend make them for me since, I am incapable and they were a hit!
