We eat at 6!

Makes me sad cause stores are opening at 6 and ruining some families dinner.

We eat around 1. I don't really have a preference. LO goes to bed around 7 so I guess it's better that we do lunch.

We're eating at 4, which is such a silly time, it's too late for lunch, too early for dinner. Just what we need, a 4th meal, yay?

We usually eat around 2. I like it that way!

DH's family does it like your DH's family: snacks throughout the day while we hang out as a family then dinner around 6-7. My family usually also does dinner around 6ish, but my family is small so people sort of just show up right before dinner time. We always go to Thanksgiving with DH's family because my family doesn't really do a big thing for it (and they live 6 hours away by car).

We usually eat around 4 pm, which means everyone is up at dawn cooking and then eating again after dinner. I like a later dinner and am shooting for 6 pm.

We've always done early dinner (start at 4-5), but this year since I'm about to pop I asked my parents if we can just start at like 1 so I can go home earlier.

I prefer to do dinner, but my family usually does lunch around 2pm.

We do "dinner" at 2:00pm and spend the rest of the evening together

We always do an early dinner at about 4pm. I don't know anything different so I like it this way. Works well with our kids' nap schedule this year so that's nice!

Both. My family does lunch and DHs does dinner.

DH's family always does lunch, which took me awhile to get used to because we always did an early Thanksgiving dinner growing up!

This year since I'm hosting we're doing it at 5 pm. One of the reasons is J's naptime is smack in the middle of lunch right now (12-3 pm), and I'd love for him to enjoy the festivities too.

DH likes lunch bc he says then we can get food coma, take a big afternoon nap, and eat leftovers for dinner!

When we lived near family, my family would have Thanksgiving lunch and DH's family would have dinner. There were definitely sides that I would look forward to at each lunch/dinner.

I would have to go with both.

We usually do 1:00 for both sides of the family. The past few years we've been able to get DH's family to push it later so we could do both, but we're getting resistance this year

We have dinner around 1:00! And I like it that way!

Also, "dinner" is whatever the largest meal of the day is. So whether that's at lunch time or supper time, that's dinner. Since supper is usually the largest meal of the day, it's often called dinner, but if you have your main meal at lunch time, that's dinner!

Both! My family pretty much eat all day (although the bulk of the food is usually lunch). And DH's family does dinner.

@MapleMoose: ooh a plated dinner! Does she do it all herself or enlist helpers to serve & clear?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Not plated as in hiring caterers/servers to serve us haha just that all the food is brought to the table set with festive decor and place settings and we all eat around a giant table together as a formal meal. It's quite a production but she says it's tradition so we just keep doing it. Usually it's her, my uncle who is an amazing chef, me, and and aunt or two prepping the table with food. She has all the food transferred to her fancy china dishes and dish after dish is brought to the long table. It looks so pretty every year and gives it such a comfy warm family feeling. Then a bunch of people will help clear and we recruit the youngest cousins to be on dish duty which is no easy feat. We always have a large group, averaging about 30 people.
