I failed the 1-hour glucose test, so they had me come in this week for the 3-hour test. I went in with some reading and my laptop, ready to get some work done for my class, with an "I got this" attitude, since I have never really dealt with the typical morning sickness/nausea/vomiting. I wasn't even hungry from fasting.

HA. About 5 minutes away from the first one-hour mark, I suddenly felt very light-headed and broke out in a cold sweat, and really thought I was going to pass out. Then BAM I started puking into a trash can. Thank goodness they put me in a separate waiting room! So they had to cancel the whole test because they wouldn't be able to trust the results. I've read other posts where as long as it was held down for 20 minutes they continue, but they refused to do that with me. Very annoying since it was a big production taking this block of time off.

Anyway, I asked my OB if there was an alternative plan for me, and they had me come in today for a blood sugar testing kit that I have to use for 2 weeks. I just test once in the morning (fasting), and one hour after breakfast, lunch, and dinner. (They gave me numbers to aim for too). So far for my first two readings, the numbers have been promising! THey're hopeful that this means I'll be cleared for GD. (The needle is quick, you don't see it, and barely feel it.)

In case others go through having to cancel the test due to getting sick/puking, the technician at the lab also told me that sometimes patients are given certain foods with same glucose value instead of the glucose drink for the test, too. And obviously patients go through their OBs for this, but just another option out there.

Did anyone else's test need to get canceled due to getting sick? I feel like I'm the only weakling! Oh and the entire rest of the day I felt nauseous and dizzy and mostly just laid down! I'm so lame.
