If you vacuum up a spider, does it die. Or crawl back out?
I'm voting die. I have a Dyson and I imagine it's like a tornado in there, right? (RIGHT??!!)

I vote die. DH and I have had this debate several times, haha! He hates this method of mine and insists they crawl back out.

I've never heard this debate! I assume it gets all smashed up, and dies.

I hope the brushes and bouncing around the walls of the vacuum will knock him out. Maybe he also suffocates in the dirt/dust...

I don't vacuum them. I heard a superstition that if you kill a spider, it rains, so I try to release them outside. Unless they are in the shower - then down the drain they go! I don't shower with spiders.

I vacuum them...and then leave the vacuum running for an extra minute or so just in case.

I vac them up with the central vac. I'm sure that bag is just a big old bug death trap.

I vacuumed ants and saw them crawling in the canister so I'm going to vote that it lives!

Are we talking with the hose or with the floor part? Might die with the floor part, but definitely not with the hose!

Um, I just hope/assume it dies b/c I don't want to think about it being alive when I'm dumping the stuff out!

In my mind they lay eggs and then multiply!!!
I never vacuum them up!!

I'm not sure. I usually scream for DH while running and jumping on the furniture. Or I throw the entire roll of paper towels or a shoe at it and hope it gets squished. In my defense, I'm allergic to spider bites.
But like @HLK208 said...I vacuumed up some ants with the hose once and they crawled out. They might be more resilient than spiders though.

A family friend has a clear canister on her vacuum. She told us that on more than one occasion she has vacuumed up a spider, then seen it walking around inside. I still like to think they die lol

@Mrs. Oatmeal: I do the same!! I'm always worried that they don't die and will get back out.
When I cleaned the basement and was vacuuming up spiders left and right, I immediately changed the vacuum bag and threw it away in the garage, just to be on the safe side!

Live. My bff's gramma has a vacuum just for ladybugs (they infest houses in the fall here) and they crawl back out. I imagine spiders do the same thing.

Not sure, but I'm always VERY careful when dumping out the canister just in case. I figure if he's alive, he'll be pissed.
