<< Dylann S. Roof, the impenitent and inscrutable white supremacist who killed nine African-American churchgoers in a brazenly racial assault almost 19 months ago, shocking the world over the persistence of extremist hatred in dark corners of the American South, was condemned to death by a federal jury on Tuesday. >>

I am against the death penalty because of how unevenly it is applied, with strong biases based on race and class.

But in cases where the murderer is captured on video and confesses to the crime, my objections are much less strong. If there's a death penalty at all, I feel like this is pretty much a textbook case where it should apply.

Do you support the death penalty, both in the abstract and in practice? What about in this particular case?
