Last week, my almost 2 year old surprised us by counting 8,9,10 when we stopped at 7. We had no idea they taught them at school! Also today, he helped DH sing the ABC song, filling in all the blanks when DH would stop. Holy moly! All these things he's learned and we didn't know about!

We were in the car yesterday and my 2 yo said "traffic." It's amazing how they pick things up! I don't think anyone has ever explained traffic to him.

About 3 months ago, DD (now 18mths) started randomly filling in words when we would stop mid-sentence in her favorite books. And about 2 weeks ago started putting together two word sentence, "Hi Mama, Up please, More please".
It's crazy how much they change in such short periods of time!

As we speak, he's pretending a wine cork is a telephone. ELLO!

A couple weeks ago he was pretending to wash his hands in his play kitchen sink. I've never washed his hands at a sink and I've never seen him do imaginative play before. He also picks up practically anything and uses it as a phone, which cracks me up because we don't really hold our phones up to our ears, we use speakerphone or the bluetooth in the car. He must've learned both things at daycare.

@ShootingStar: my LO washes her hands too...I SAH and know I have never washed her hands in a sink. DH washes his hands first thing after work everyday so she must have got it from watching him!
She surprises me everyday. Just this morning she laughed and said "that's funny!". She's never said that before and she used it correctly! (17.5 months)

She has been coming home from daycare saying "Doctor! Rat-tat" and knocking on doors for a couple of weeks. Eventually, on a whim, I Googled 'rhymes about doctor knocking on door' and discovered a song called Miss Molly had a Dolly. I sang it to E and to my sheer amazement she did all the actions - rocking a baby, shaking her head on cue, even writing a prescription on her hand!!! Mind.blown.

A few days ago DS, 9 months tomorrow, said "water", I was totally stunned. He was just repeating me, but he only babbles otherwise. If my mom hadn't been there too I would not have believed my ears.

I was in the Dr's waiting room with DS 20months this morning and there was quite a long queue. He said 'lots of people. Busy'. He has always been a good speaker for his age but that blew me away!

A couple months back we were turning and J pipes in, " hey mama, are you turning right?" And we were turning right! I had no idea he'd picked up on left/right and he knew them before he was three!

Today, my husband was holding her when he suddenly had to Run to the bathroom (they both have a stomach virus), and when he reached back to hold her hand, she started patting his back trying to comfort him. It was very cute when he told me.
She has also been singing along to her favorite nursery rhymes and it's adorable.

A couple months ago DD would point to trash on the floor, say "ewwww!", pick it up and go throw it in the trash can! I think she's going to be a neat freak like me!

He started singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider in Spanish the other day. He clearly learned it at school but still, I said, "Pete, you are officially smarter than me!"
He also remembers the words to so many books. We read the same books together every night and he has a way better memory for the text than I do!

The other night when I was putting DS1 to bed, he asked me what was wrong. I told him that mama was tired and wanted to go to sleep. He then started singing to me, patting my back, and every so often he'd give me a kiss. I couldn't believe how sweet my boy was.

Hand washing! We just bought stools so she can wash her hands after diaper changes. Also, a couple months ago, I started singing Twinkle, Twinkle and she had all these motions to go with the song. So cute.

N hates to be dirty at all. He is 28 months (almost 29 months). When he eats if he gets anything on the table or his face he must stop and wipe it up or the meal can not continue. It cracks me up. Also recently he started knocking on the door three times and saying Penny. I think we may watch too much Big Bang. Lol.
