D has had what I lovingly call "daycare cough" every since the Fall when the older kids went back to school. This weekend, his runny nose got significantly worse, his cough got wise, his eyes started looking red and goopy, and he had intermittent fever (highest was 100.3). I took him to the ped on Monday, since I read you should always get pink eye checked out before the age of 2 (he's 23 months). Anyway, he has pink eye and an ear infection, and was started on antibiotics and eye drops. Today he sounds so hoarse, like he's losing his voice! I feel so badly for him, though he seems to be feeling better. He sounds like he smoked a pack a day for 50 years! Is this normal? I googled it, and everything I read pairs hoarseness with croup, but he doesn't have the "typical" croup cough. Should I be concerned about croup?!
