My 18 month old has a severe underbite. It's her jaw that's misaligned, not her teeth. I plan to ask about it at her next pedi and dentist visit, but I wondered if anyone else had experience with it? From what I'm reading online, it sounds like often, it isn't addressed until the kid is six or seven. Did your toddler grow out of it? If not, when and how did you try to fix it?

My youngest has an under bite, and the dentist said it will only get worse as your jaw grows. He also said that he may need to undergo jaw surgery when he is 6 or 7 but we'll revisit how things are going next year. There is nothing you can really do to fix it on your own.

My middle had a cross bite (bottom teeth poked out and top teeth came down almost behind them), and very tight tooth spacing due to a small jaw. It was so bad when she was 2-3 that people used to think her front bottom teeth were missing at first glance. I'm not sure when it happened, but at four, she looks like it has significantly improved just from her growth.

My friend's son had a pretty bad underbite and it was mostly corrected with orthodontia starting when he was around 7. He had various appliances throughout the years and now at 13 he is in braces.
When they are young it is easier to correct jaw misalignment's since the jaw is still growing. I am actually having jaw surgery next year to correct my bite. I have an underbite, crossbite and my teeth don't touch at all where they are supposed to when I bite down. The crazy part is you only notice all this when actually looking inside my mouth. My smile looks ok at first glance. But my teeth are wrecked from my bite being so off my entire life.
