We just got back from a week at an all inclusive with a 10 month old and a 3 year old, and learned some things. I often see posts asking for advice on road trips, etc, and thought we could all share lessons we've learned traveling that might help other people out!

What we learned from St Lucia: ideally, wait until all your kids are walking. There wasn't a lot of space for W to crawl - the room was small, the concrete pool deck scraped his feet, and while there was a lot of grassy space it was all full of delicious grass and leaves. We ended up putting towels on the ground and bordering them with deck chairs to make a playpen. Also, know in advance if you'll have a bathtub and if not prepare your kids. B had never had a shower before, there was no bath, and it was the subject of nightly fights until we settled on the acceptable method (to him) of him standing in the shower stall, not under the water, wearing goggles, while I gave him a washcloth wipe down.
