I want to get my daughter a tricycle and probably a helmet for her 2nd birthday. Any recommendations? I don't even know if she needs the helmet but I thought better to get her used to it.

I got this one at REI when LO was 1: https://www.rei.com/product/894266/giro-scamp-bike-helmet-kids
It's adjustable so it still fits.

We took B to a bike store - they fitted him for one.
For the tricycle we got this Radio Flyer one: http://www.radioflyer.com/grow-with-me-tricycle.html It's been great, I would absolutely recommend it.

We got my LO a balance bike and helmet for her second birthday. It's the Joovy helmet, small and lightweight. Amazingly, she asks to wear it.

We have the same trike as @erinbaderin. I like it and so does DD.
We have a Schwinn helmet. It is a fight to get her to wear it sometimes but we insist.

Another radio flyer trike.
And we got the Nutcase helmet. I think there is a baby one and a kid one. If you get it, I would take LO or at least measure her head so that when you go you know which one to get.
Ours was on the cusp between infant and kid (he was also 2) so we went with the slightly bigger one knowing he would grow more into it. It's adjustable but it was still a smidge bug but acceptable. 2.5 now and it's already a lot better.
We do make him wear it every single time he wants to get on his bike or scooter. It's true that he prob wouldn't get hurt too badly since he's so low to the ground. But I want to set that precedent now and make sure he knows that he needs it for when he's older.
Also, there are bigger kids in the playground who zoom around really fast and God forbid one of them runs into him.

We got the schwinn easy steer tricycle for DS1's 2nd birthday. I wanted to be able to control his riding (we have lots of hills) and he didn't really learn to pedal well until he was 3. I like this trike a lot, even now since I can wear my younger son and my older son feels more contained.

We went to a bike store and had her fitted with a recommended helmet. It has an adjustable size so it should last for a while.
