A sorority sister of mine just announced on FB that she and her husband are pregnant with triplet boys! She said it was completely spontaneous (no fertility treatments, etc) and there is no history of multiples in her family. What a shock! They already have a little boy who will be 2 in December so she is going to be quite outnumbered with 4 sons!
Anyone else know anyone who has higher order multiples?

A friend of mine has two sets of identical twins.
I don't know anyone with triplets or more. I do follow a bunch of blogs of IVF multiples.

I babysat four-year-old triplets in college! Their parents were in their mid-40s when they had them, so I would guess fertility treatments were involved. They were tons of fun, all had totally different personalities and eye colors (2 girls, one boy), and they had all sorts of support being raised. They had a FT nanny, then a before/after school nanny once they were older, and a Sunday afternoon babysitter (so their parents could run errands.) Crazy!

My husband has cousins that are triplets. She actually had 1 older than them and another younger, for 5 total. My MIL was in college when they were born and moved in to help her sister out.

I baby sat for this family growing up that had two daughters. They wanted to try one more time for a son and ended up with triplet girls. No fertility treatments, no history of multiples in family, etc. It was a complete shock.

My husband is a triplet! His mom did some fertility treatment, it was in the 70s so I don't know what exactly. All I know is that she took some medication and there were no procedures (i.e. I think they just did TI).

I don't know anyone IRL. I follow a girl on IG from Australia that has 3 boys aged 3,2,1 and then natural triplets (2 boys and a girl) that are a couple months old.

I taught quadruplet girls! One had very serious health issues but they were all very smart and lovely girls!
ETA: oh and my 2nd cousin had triplets too but they are teenagers now.

A friend of mine has triplets and my LO has play dates with them all the time! She told me it's a lot easier now that they are older (3yrs) than the infant stage and I'm always amazed at how she handles it all.

Our next door neighbors have triplet 9 year old boys. They don't seem identical so I'm guessing fertility treatments. And they have an older daughter. Must be crazy in their house.

My old babysitter (from when I was a kid) has triplets and an older son. I only know her from Facebook these days but it looks pretty crazy! They have a close family so I think there is a lot of support. One of my good friends has twins and I think there are great things about it but I'd be so overwhelmed!

A former coworker of my mom's had natural triplets, she was an older mom (40) and they decided they wanted to have a child together (married later in life, both had teenagers from previous marriage) and boom they got 3! 2 girls and a boy. It was a shock to say the least!

I have triplet nieces conceived through IVF. Two eggs were put in and one split creating triplets. They are 4 now.

I know three people with triplets, all have two boys and a girl. One of them also has an older son, but the other two just have the triplets.
Maybe I'm just in a mood, but I find it very annoying that anyone would announce and also include that they didn't have fertility assistance. Does it make it any less amazing when babies are conceived with help?
But good for them, they are going to have a crazy house full of love!

@LAZB: My friends didn't announce that they didn't have fertility help but a family member did and tagged them in a post on social media. I think the family member was amazed at the odds (1 in 300,000!!) and that might be why they wrote the post. I wouldn't have known or cared how they got triplets without seeing that.

@LAZB: Unfortunately people are super fascinated with whether or not multiples were conceived with fertility meds or not. Every time I'm out with my twins I get some variation of "which side do twins run on?" "Was it a huge surprise?" "Did you have help?" Or "are they natural?" I try to keep my sense of humor about it, but there seems to be a serious preoccupation with this and it gets obnoxious sometimes!

My husband could have been a triplet, but they lost one somewhat early on. He and his sister were conceived via IVF, though. Crazy, I can't imagine having triplets!

We are friends with a family who has triplets. She was taking clomid. They were born at 27w and teeny tiny, but all are doing pretty well right now (almost 2 years old).

I have a coworker with accidental triplets. Like they were not trying to get pregnant and had an oopsie pregnancy that turned out to be triplets! I can't even imagine. They're all healthy and happy though

An exec at my former job had triplets. At the time, they were applying to college! I cannot imagine paying for 3 college tuitions especially at the same time!

@LAZB: I don't take it as any diss against people who need fertility treatments. I think it was just to emphasize the shock and surprise since when you undergo fertility treatments you understand that you are increasing your risk for multiples. So it is that much more of a surprise when higher order multiples happen naturally!
