Can I ask how long it's been since your MC? (I'm waiting for those same signs of ovulation or AF)

My doctor suggested waiting at least a month so that my uterine lining had a good chance to rebuild itself.

But knowing that DH and I don't use protection (it's a Catholic practice) they pretty much said not to worry about it if it happened earlier.

Mostly they wanted us to take the time to heal (physically AND emotionally) first

In the end, I think we all have to judge what's best for ourselves. Only we know how our hearts feel!

When I had my chemical, my doctor said I was good to keep TTC the next cycle. She prescribed progesterone for the cycle after that one but I started it right away anyways. My first cycle after was a bit longer than usual but nothing crazy. Personally, I think waiting after makes sense if you had a later m/c or D&C. Since mine was "just" a chemical, it didn't seem as drastic on my body.

I was told to wait until I had a normal period...so I guess that would be to wait one cycle? I took the medication instead of a d&c so my first period was 7.5 weeks after my miscarriage. I got my bfp the first normal cycle post miscarriage. I am pretty sure I O'd during the month we didn't try but I wasn't testing so I'm not 100% sure.

My doctor told us that there's no medical reason in waiting after a MC to try again. She does advise waiting to just give your body/emotions time to reset. She usually advises one or two cycles. We waited two, but it took 8 weeks for my first period to come back post-D&C

My doctor said there was no medical reason to wait to try. My period never came regularly and I haven't O'd since, so it didn't matter anyway.

I was advised to do the same thing. This time I really felt when ovulation was coming and resisted the urge to try again.

I think the other reason can be that your body needs time to heal!

My doc wanted me to wait one cycle to heal physically and emotionally. I was really glad I did, I think I needed that breather where I knew TTC was off the table for the moment and I could let myself focus on recovering instead of on TTC. (Believe me, in the moment I was disappointed to wait, but looking back it was the right decision). We tried again the next cycle after waiting and got pregnant with our daughter. My biggest reason I chose to wait as instructed was because if I hadn't, and then I'd had another loss, I would have blamed myself and it would have been a really bad mental situation for me.

Also I wanted to mention that it took 3 cycles after the waiting period to get pregnant with T. Which is short in the grand scheme of things, but felt like forever after 4 months prior. So I think that shapes my view on whether waiting was needed or worth if.

@Mrs. Confetti: I'm sorry you're in this situation to need this kind of advice. I hope you get your sticky baby soon!! When I get down about what I've been through I just remember that without things happening the way they did I wouldn't have my sweet girl!

I'll see my doc next week for my follow-up from my D&C so I suppose we'll go over it then but my nurse during my D&C told me to get "right back on it - to get drunk and have crazy sex". She was obviously the best nurse to have during such a difficult time!

@Mrs. Confetti: I didn't have a D&C, both of mine were natural, so take this for what it is worth. We didn't wait after the first one-the doctor said that we could, but we didn't have to. We lost that one, too, but I didn't feel like it was because we hadn't waited.

After the second loss, we took a cycle off. It was hard, but at that point, my body needed the break, and I'm glad we did. Back to back losses wrecked havoc on both my body and my emotions, so we needed the time. Also, at that point, my doctor ran some tests, so we needed to take time off. I got my sticky BFP the following month.

I had a D&C and waited several months per my doctors recommendation. I'm very sorry you are going through this.

@Freckles: this seems like a silly question but did you wait until you had 1 period or 2? I can tell that I had a "cycle" after my D&C with all ovulation signs around day 17 (when I always O) and then AF 2 weeks after. I'm now debating about trying again this month and wondering if it is too soon.

Basically I had my mc, I waited for bleeding to stop, and then after a few more weeks My first AF returned. In that time waiting for AF we didn't try and used protection. Once AF returned I counted that as CD 1 and starting trying again when I ovulated after that AF.

@Tidybee: @Kbee: I didn't have a d&c or chemical (missed m/c both times), but the maternal-fetal specialist had me wait an extra cycle (so 2) after the second. She said after 2 losses in quick succession my uterine lining needed more time to recover. That's the first time I'd heard an actual reason to wait beyond being able to date a future pregnancy and taking time to emotionally heal.

I feel like this has been answered already by others, but my doctor suggested waiting at least one cycle. So after my first AF (I knew I ovulated based on charting) DH and I stopped preventing and went back to NTNP.

At this point my doctor said it wouldn't be a huge issue to conceive right away, but I think if I did have another loss I might want to wait longer.

DH would prefer to wait longer because most of all he worries about me. But I'm happier NTNP for now just in case. If "everything happens for a reason" like everyone said about the MC...maybe there would be a reason I'm supposed to get KU after only one cycle instead of two

@MaryM: I hear ya on the everything happens for a reason! Also I'm just impatient, and it's really hard for me when I think about having to wait one more cycle after this one. I have 5-week cycles, and I haven't even got my period yet after the chemical, so it could literally be 2.5-3 MONTHS if we waited more than 1 cycle. No thanks. As soon as I get my period, I think we're gonna start looking out for O again!
