Anyone else out there TTC w/ irregular periods? Since I was 14, my cycle has been irregular. Except, of course, for when I was on BC. Never really thought much about it until I wanted a baby. It's frustrating not knowing what is up with my body and my charts being all over the map.
Happily, I just went to the ob and have got the ball rolling. 
I'd love to hear from some women who are in the same boat, or from some women who WERE in the same boat and have success stories to tell!

My periods became irregular after a miscarriage. I got a bfp on day 57 of my cycle. It was really frustrating. Plus I felt like I wasn't getting enough fair chances to get pregnant lol. My ob though did tell me that there were some meds I could take to make my cycles regular. You may want to check into that for your own sanity.

I totally understand what you mean when you say that you weren't getting enough fair chances! I feel like I can't even TTC properly because things are so crazy. I did go to the ob and got a bunch of blood drawn. We'll test for all kinds of things and then hopefully start me on some meds.

I had non-stop periods. I have a lot of medical problems with all that though, but there are things your dr can give you to help you regulate your period and get pregnant. And I am now 6 months pregnant

I have irregular and long and annovulatory cycles - meaning that while everyone else gets 12 attempts at baby making, I'm at TWO for this year. Seriously. Last cycle was 68 days with no Ovulation. I'm on CD20 currently (with Clomid!) and still no Ovulation - gearing up to be another long one.

I had irregular cycles (30-45 days) off the pill also but used ovulation test strips to determine when I was ovulating and got pregnant the second month

I've always had irregular cycles, usually no more than 4 periods in a year...I took Provera to bring on a period after going 4 months without, and got pregnant the following month. I also did acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

I have always had irregular periods when not regulated by the pill. Sometimes I wouldn't get one for over 100 days, then 60, then 45, then 60 again--it's really frustrating. They finally regulated themselves to somewhere between 42 and 45 days for a few months when we conceived last Summer (currently 21 weeks PG). It is definitely possible, you just get fewer tries which can be frustrating. Definitely chart, that's what finally helped us. Good luck!

I get about 4-5 periods a year. My cycles range anywhere from 40 days to 180 days. I am now 2 months pregnant. What helped me was reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, charting for a few cycles just to get to know my body, meeting with a fertility specialist to discuss my options and really listening and being aware of my ovulation related cramps. In the end, I did not move forward with any medical procedures/options because I stubbornly wanted to try on my own first. It really felt like a crapshoot sometimes. Best of luck to you!

I had irregular periods off bc, which is why I went off it last month to try and regulate before active TTC in January. Currently I'm five days "late" per my BC cycle schedule, but this is "normal" when I'm off bc. I usually have at least 30-45 day cycles.
After my next period, I'm going to start temping and using OPK strips to get a better handle on my ovulation days. I agree with PPs that reading TCOYF has helped a ton in getting knowledge behind the journey.

I love knowing that I'm not alone. I know I've got to get better about charting! I was really good for long time but I've dropped off in frustration. That won't help me get a baby! Good luck to all you ladies.

Im irregular too,and it is frustrating!although its not to the extreme, I never quite know when AF is going to show up,so it feels like a guessing game most of the time,

Definitely chart! It's worth it, so that if you struggle in future, you can turn up to an RE or Gyno and show that history right up front.

What a great (and so reassuring) post!! This is something that has been on my mind a lot lately as we'll be trying early next year. My cycle when off the pill is all over the place, maybe 3 - 4x a year.

I'm irregular, and it took 3 years of TTC & fertility treatments for us to get a BFP. I was diagnosed with PCOS, and once I got on the right pills to help me ovulate we got our BFP fairly quickly.
