I'm looking for ideas! Besides bagels, what else do you use cream cheese for?
Use 1: canned corn mixed with cream cheese & salsa
Use 2: substitute for butter/ shredded cheese for extra creamy grits
Use 3: Harry & David dips

I use it in so many of my crockpot meals since it melts at a good consistency compared to other cheeses.

I like adding a bit to mashed potatoes. Extra creamy and a nice little tang.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: make these - so good!

@sandy: I make something similar with marscapone cheese, but I bet cream cheese would stretch my dollar!
@Mrs. J: I've only ever used sour cream to dissappointing results. The trick has probably been cream cheese all this time!
Keep 'em coming. These are all great ideas!!

Peanut butter dip for apples (peanut butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, vanilla, optional walnuts)
I used to eat cream cheese and jelly sandwiches as a kid (hello Lenten Fridays).

@Mrs. J: wait, you pimp out apples & peanut butter? Genius!

One of my favorite appetizers is to take prosciutto, smear with cream cheese and then wrap around the stalks of asparagus. Bake until crispy. It's amazing.

Stuffed chicken breasts with cream cheese and dried apricots, then pan fried, with a pan sauce made with the juices/ gooey, oozed out cream cheese...

I recently made a jalapeno mac and cheese that used cream cheese in the sauce and it was SO SO SO good! I made it for a party and got a ton of compliments

Cream cheese, lunch meat, salsa, spinach, tortilla pi wheels
Cheesecake
Toast with jelly
Waffle with sliced strawberries
Now I'm hungry.
ETA: you can freeze it, too. Did you buy too much cream cheese? Now I'm hungry AND curious .

Cream cheese makes the base for the best muffins. Or you can just bake regular muffins and drop a chunk in the middle to get a little Danish filling thing going on. Cheesecake bites where you line the bottom of a cupcake liner with a Nilla wafer or Oreo

@Mrs. Bee: okay, curious...tomato sauce?
I use it for pasta, in a smoked salmon sauce. I sautee onions, add some chicken stock, melt cream cheese, add frozen peas, season and then pour over cooked pasta. Then I stir in the smoked salmon.

@MrsSRS: ha ha yes! A little goes a long way and there's only two of us.

@looch: yes it is a popular recipe called million dollar spaghetti that i saw on pinterest. usually i just use cheese, but if i don't have cheese on hand, i'll put in some cream cheese!

@erinbaderin: yum!
It is tasty thrown in a tomato pasta sauce. I use it to make a no bake cheesecake-cottage cheese and cream cheese mixed with vanilla and a few tablespoons of icing sugar. Spread in a pre-cooked graham cracker crust and topped with whatever pie filling flavour you like!
It's good mixed with some other things for an apple dip.

I will put cream cheese on just about everything. Two unique things I use it for is:
Cream cheese pizza - using either premade crust or crust you make and parbake, spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the crust before you add pizza sauce and whatever other toppings. It's subtle, but delicious!
I put a few dollops of cream cheese on really spicy lo-mein and nuke it in the microwave a few seconds. When I stir it together it makes a thicker creamy sauce that balances out the heat.

So tonight's dinner will be @farawayyama: stuffed chicken- adding dried cherries b/c I have them on hand and @Tanjowen: prosciutto wrapped asparagus along with regular asparagus b/c "bacon" makes everything tastes better.
I can't wait to try out the other recipes too.

@TemperanceBrennan: how spicy are the bacon wrapped jalapeños? My family does not appreciate my crostini dip appetizers, but these may go over way better.

@sandy: This is the recipe! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/creamy-jalapeno-popper-macaroni-and-cheese.html except I left the Gruyere out and just used more cheddar since I don't love Swiss cheese, and I didn't use the pickled jalapeños bc it was already really spicy with the fresh ones (I did use the pickled jalapeño juice though, it was really spicy after that)

@TemperanceBrennan: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh man, bacon wrapped jalapenos are freaking delicious. I use a teeny tiny 1/4 tsp (metal one) to scrape out all the seeds and membranes so we have some non spicy ones. If you leave it in, though, they can be hot as hell. I totally forgot how good these are!

Oh, I also make this tomato soup: http://julia.typepad.com/scrambled/2009/11/almost-instant-tomato-soup.html and then stir half a package of cream cheese into it - it makes it deliciously creamy.

Super easy and delicious fruit dip. Mix 8 oz cream cheese with a jar of marshmallow fluff. Sooo good!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Ok, this does not sound appealing but I promise it is. I read on a blog recently to put some chive cream cheese in between your regular cheese when grilling grilled cheese. You cant *really* taste it but it makes the whole thing gooier! We tried it and it was so good!
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
@wrkbrk: that sounds like a winner to me! I'll definitely try it.
