5 years to be 100% vested. Each year before that is only a small percentage vested.

We have no matching! So 0 years for me.

First job was 3 years, second job was vested immediately. (I stayed at my first job for exactly 3 years and 2 days, ha!)

My first 2 jobs were 5 years to fully vest. My current company is immediate.

@snowjewelz: it's not really bad unless you plan on leaving. You wouldn't want to leave a job a week before you vested. But honestly, it's not anything you can change whether you know what it is or not. Personally unless it was a very short time period I wouldn't pass up an opportunity just to stick around for vesting

Ours is a graduated 5 year vestment. I thought that was pretty standard...but after reading these responses...lame.

I actually just vested on my 3 year anniversary two weeks ago

I have both a 401K and ESOP at my job. You are fully vested in the 401K after 1 year, but there is a 5 year waiting period before it can be transferred.
The ESOP takes 5 years to be fully vested.

I work for the government and we automatically get 1% even if we don't contribute anything ourselves. But that doesn't vest for 3 years. We also get up to 4% more in matching funds if we contribute, and that vests immediately. I lost a few hundred dollars when we moved because I had a 2 1/2 month break between my jobs (similar positions, different agencies), which sucked. But I'm glad it wasn't more.

DH has the 100% vested immediately. While he doesn't make a ton of $ salary wise, he gets amazing health coverage (for free), and an amazing 401k plan. It's really nice. I'm self-employed, and won't start saving for retirement until we buy our first home.

25% a year until you hit 100% at four years. I think it's a long time because I work in tech and most people stay 2ish years. They you're the match as a great benefit but the you really only get half that money if you stay the average tenure.

My last 2 employers have offered matching that was immediately vested. I feel so grateful for that! I've maximized my contributions to take advantage of this awesome benefit.

My company is 100% vested for the company match. However, they also offer a a 3% contribution in lieu of a pension. That is vested 3 years.

My two previous companies were 5 years (20% each year). Of course, I left after 2-3 years so I lost quite a bit of my match
