Anyone else gone through this? Advice welcome!
One of my 4 year old twins had tubes put in his ears about 16 months ago now. Both tubes have fallen out since December. We went a blissful 13 months or so without any ear infections and hardly any sickness at all...it was great! If you live with an LO with recurring ear infections you know how miserable it is. Every little cough just put me on edge, anticipating it turning into an ear infection. Well, now he has had one ear infection since the tubes came out. The ENT wants to wait and see. Since he's now 4 if he doesn't get recurring ear infections, a second set of tubes is unnecessary. If he starts getting them again, then we'll need the 2nd set. And now this week he has a cough. I just feel so much anxiety waiting to see if it turns into an ear infection. I know there's nothing to be done, it's just a waiting it out kind of thing, but it is nerve-wracking to be sure.

This is such a hard time of year. I really hope that his ears have grown enough to handle the drainage.
We're in the tubes or not waiting game right now too. LO just turned one, but has a stubborn infection that we can not get rid of. We are on the fourth round of antibiotics and I've got fingers and toes crossed that we can finally move past this. Half of me just wishes for tubes though, just to finally be rid of the infection for a long time.

Yes, my DD's tubes came out after just 8 months and it was pretty stressful. She had one infection after that, but fingers crossed nothing since.

I get it. Our kiddo got tubes at 13 months. She's now 27 months and has a follow up with the ENT in April, we think her tubes are still in, but I'm constantly edgy when she has a cough or a sniffle. She's also prone to vomiting. She's also learned to say my tummy hurts in order to get attention. To say that I'm constantly on the edge with anxiety over what sickness is next is an understatement.
Oddly enough our 5 year old has now started to get ear infections. I think it's because she doesn't like to blow her nose. I thought we dodged the bullet with her, but here we are

We're in a similar boat. My LO never had an ear infection until we got her into daycare at 20 months, then she had 4 within the first year. Our ped said if she gets one more this winter we'll probably do tubes. That was in December. So it felt sort of inevitable to me she'd get another and every time she gets the sniffles I'm like................... is this it? But so far so good. I dunno. Kid illnesses can drive you crazy man.

Yep -- the wait-and-see if no fun! DD2 had several ear infections last winter, and then got one right away when she started preschool this fall. I basically was resigned to getting tubes at that point and constantly on edge anytime she coughed or sniffled...but she hasn't had another one since! So we must've grown out of it (or gotten lucky?!).
