@Dagny: I guess no one loves their washing machine. I have hated our GE from day 1. It routinely adds a minimum of 20 minutes to each cycle -- I suppose because it always unbalances itself, which also makes it walk. We've had a repair person here twice, and the fix only lasts a few days. Boo.

I have a LG top loader that I looove.

Nothing specific.. just a top loader without the agitator thing in the middle. That'll be the most gentle on your clothes.

I actually LOVE my Maytag Bravos - I have the washer and dryer. They do a great job at getting getting clothes clean and stains out.

I like front load - bigger capacity in small space. Our Frugidaire has a steam cycle and sanitize cycle which is why we bought it.

I have a Seimen's front loader. It's ok, but the thing I LOVE is that there is a 15 minute cycle, which is great for clothes that aren't really dirty, so I'll wash jeans, coats and jackets and some of my dresses on that cycle.
