@gotkimchi: When I hit a stall I cut out diet pop too and sweeteners. I also ended up ding IF, all of which has really helped me. I suggested doing it gradual though, I wouldn’t start all of those things at once! Maybe just the pop one week, then try IF the next?

I’m doing good so far. 2lbs from my current goal. I’m super excited to hit it before Christmas, I didn’t think that was doable, but I totally think I can do it now!
I also came up with my next ‘baby goal’. DH and I have our first appointment with a new fertility clinic in January, time for baby #2. I’m excited and terrified! I would love to be in better shape for baby #2 than I was for #1, being so much bigger just made everything harder.
So I set my goal to lose 20lbs before I get pregnant. I’m thinking this will be a win-win, if I don’t get pregnant right away but reach my goal I’ll be happy, and if I don’t reach my goal but get pregnant I’ll be happy.
2018 is going to be quite the year for us!

    @WinterBee: so exciting!

@gotkimchi: I just got through a 10 day stall where I was up and down the same like 1.5lbs, with like 4lb spikes. It was so annoying.

What I did was ramp up the water intake to like a gallon a day, I started doing IF for 16 hours about 3-4 days a week (but I still allow a Bulletproof coffee in the morning), and I just recently increased my protein intake. (I was on like 75% fat, 20% protein, and 5% carb macros for a while for a variety of reasons, but I decided to bump it to like 55% fat, 40% protein, and 5% carb).

Have you adjusted your macros and calories recently? I generally adjust them every 10-15 pounds (which means I need to adjust mine again, but I'm waiting until the beginning of the new year to do that!)

Also, I basically only lose weight the first 2 weeks of my cycle. I get hangry during PMS, am bloated during my period, and then I need a few days to get back to normal. Its sorta annoying.

I am officially down 20lbs as of Friday! Of course, I'm about to start my period, so I'm up like a pound since then, but whatever, it will come back down again eventually. Like I posted above, I made some changes to my macros and I want to see how I end the year. So far this month I'm down 4 pounds!

I need to lose 1 more pound to get down to 205, and then I'm in striking distance to onederland. I don't believe I will get there by the end of the year, but I think I should be able to hit it sometime in January. I'm joining a new DietBet in December that will run through January, so hoping that will be the motivator to get me there!

@gingerbebe: I just was looking at my calories/macros today. I’ve been doing “lazy keto” and not tracking but I’m considering if that will help. I popped my food for today into my fitness pal and it seems ok so I will probably try that for a few days to make sure I’m in the right zone

@gingerbebe: 20lb is amazing!! Great job!

@WinterBee: that sounds awesome and so exciting!

@gotkimchi: It gets harder as you get closer to your goal weight - the margin of error is smaller. I know a lot of people who were lazy keto who had to just really get more anal towards the end and then figure out a plan for maintenance. Its a good thing - it means you're getting close!

@gingerbebe: Congrats! Also, I only lose a week or two out of my cycle too. Soooo depressing... but at least it’s coming off!

OOOFFF, I need to get back on the wagon in a big way. I have started tracking again on weight watchers and there's a bit of a learning curve again for me as they have changed some of the points values.

One challenge I have is that I do really well during the day (well, not today), but then I lose control at night and over the weekends. I read that it could be that I am not eating enough during the day, anyone heard of that theory?

@looch: that was my problem for awhile. I was restricting too much during the day and then would eat anything I could find in the evening. I have since tried to eat a bit more, especially protein, during the day and I rarely feel the need to overeat in the evening.

I'm doing okay, have gone up a bit in the past two weeks thanks to DD's birthday weekend and two holiday parties. But I'm not going to dwell on it or let it throw me off. I am back on track and know a few days of bad eating won't derail everything.

I am a little worried about visiting family this coming weekend. They do not eat healthy and it is always a challenge to fit in exercise. I feel so sluggish by the time I leave.

@looch: For me, I just found that I have a habit of eating at night and I just had to stop. I started incorporating intermittent fasting, which is basically where you set a window of time during the day during which you eat, and then you're not eating outside those hours. Everyone does it differently, but for me, I just drink water, tea, and coffee during the period where I'm not eating - some people also do broth - and then just eat solid food during my eating window. By just having a hard stop time to my eating, I find I don't crave snacking anymore - mostly because I've expended all my allotted calories for the day. I was finding that when I didn't have an eating window, I was like hoarding calories and eating less food during the day so I could "save" them up for the evenings - but then once the snack monster started, I just wanted to keep nibbling. So I was maxing out my calories every day and eating like up until I went to bed at night.

I do IF about 4 days a week now and I definitely notice on weekends when I'm not doing it that I want to snack a lot more. On IF days, I have a fatty coffee in the morning, which is filling enough to keep me happy while working, I eat lunch around 1-1:30pm and then keep a 6-8 hour eating window. I've noticed that I'm usually very hungry for lunch and dinner, so my calories are usually gone by the time 6 hours rolls around so I stop eating around 730pm. I drink tea or diet soda in the evenings if I want to taste something, but I'm not actually HUNGRY. I also very rarely snack on fasting days.

@catgirl: I feel the same way when I visit my parents. There’s always chips and chocolates around, it’s so hard to resist.
Give yourself a break though, as long as you’re on more than off you’re doing great. As for exercise, maybe a midday walk? Or after dinner walk? That’s what I usually do when visiting family, try to get in a short walk here and there, even a little bit of activity helps. And increase your water intake, that’ll help with the ‘blah’ feeling, helps me anyways. 😊

Meh, my update isn't great, up and down the same 1 pound for the past few weeks. I know it is because of all the events I've had going on, but it isn't great. I'm hoping to re-introduce exercise tomorrow morning for the first time in almost two months (due to health issues) That will be hard, but I'm hoping it jump starts me back to losing! I'm only 5 pounds from my goal right now, and it's so hard to get over this last hurdle!

@catgirl: I am going to try to eat a protein rich snack in the afternoon, between lunch and dinner. Thanks for that.

@gingerbebe: I don't know anything about IF, but I am going to look into it, thanks for the nudge!

Woop! Down another 1.2lbs this morning! I weighed myself 3 times, I couldn't believe it! That's a nice little gift considering my period is about to start, which means things are gonna be on hard pause for a week or more. Whomp whomp.

    Who has a one-week-till-Christmas update??

My last post, I said I was going to re-introduce exercise the next morning....and ended up with the flu instead! So that sucked, but my appetite has been completely gone so I'm only eating what I need for fuel to get through the day and not at all tempted by all the holiday treats around. Down 1 pound, plus the one I kept gaining and losing seems to be staying off for now.

@Rocker2014: Sucks you got sick, but a loss is a loss right?

I lost some more weight on Friday, but then my period started, so I'm up like 3 pounds this morning! I know its not a big deal, but its annoying nonetheless.

I'm joining a DietBet that runs from December 19-January 15th so that I stay on track over the holidays and while I for sure didn't think I could get to 100s this calendar year, I'm actually not THAT far and it seems like it could be a toss up. At the very least, I'm pretty confident I can get there early January, so that's really exciting.

I just ordered some work clothes on clearance in the next size down because all my work pants are too sloppy looking and I have literally 1 work appropriate sweater for cold weather. Hopefully I can make do until the post-Christmas sales and the next size down. Last time I was at Old Navy, I was firmly between sizes so everything looked terrible.

Anyone have any plans or strategies for Christmas? Planned cheat days?

We're just doing nuclear family Christmas this year and I'm going to do ham, so it should be fine for me.

How did everyone make it out of the holiday period? I definitely fell off the wagon on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - lots of snacking and overindulging at dinner time while hanging out with family.

I currently have the flu (again! And I got the flu shot - WTF) and basically haven’t eaten in 2-3 days, so I’ve lost the weight gained and then some. I know most of it is dehydration, though. Getting sick is definitely an awful way to lose weight but I must admit the lower number on the scale will motivate me to keep working on my goal.

I slipped a little, went up 2ish pounds during December but I think some of it is bloat from not having as much water and a lot more salt. Back on track with workouts and eating though and it is already going down.

I found that while I enjoyed the unhealthy treats I was really missing healthy clean food after Christmas. Amazing how in the past year I have altered what I crave.

    Hi all! Happy New Year!

I indulged only on NYE. I kept it keto in terms of my drinks and snacks, but went over on my calories. I paid for it with 2 pounds up on the scale New Year's Day because booze and salty snacks and lack of water = bad.

But its fine, I know it will go down. My final weigh-in for December had me down 9.2lbs for the month, so I'm officially 25 pounds down. My scale got as low as 200.4 during the month, so I'm really in striking distance of Onderland, which I'm excited about!

I joined a second DietBet, which runs until January 19th. I have to hit 199.7lbs to win that bet, so its motivation for me to keep with it and hit that Onderland goal.

I meal prepped for the week to stay on track with my meals, although I'm quite worried for the next two months, as its our work's busy season and its usually a really really stressful time fueled by junk food, caffeine, and sugar. Let's hope I can plan for it and not totally derail my progress!

I have stayed the same, which isn't great, but it's also not terrible. So now I am focusing on my eating, which is the real challenge for me, as always. I am aiming to be down to 145 by the end of the month, and then down to 141 by the end of February. After that, I am not sure, we'll see.

@gingerbebe: 9 pounds in one month, and in December no less! Wow!

I haven’t weighed yet, but I was def off plan for much of Xmas-new years. Back on track today and feeling much better because I actually felt like crap if I was eating too many carbs and junk. Have to make some meals and pick up some things at the store today. I have a bunch of frozen roasted chicken meat and stock so I might do something with that

I totally fell off the wagon between Christmas and NY....it wasnt detrimental but definitely did not do any good towards my goals!

I'm on day 2 of the Whole30...minus fruits...

Anyone think its time for a new thread?
