My husband's coworker is moving here from Dallas and I wanted to make a small welcome basket for his family. So far I have my favorite local pancake mix with syrup, two bottles of wine and bottle opener, Starbucks gift card, Milano cookies, giant coloring and sticker book with crayons. Need a few more things to fill it up. Heading to trader joe's this afternoon - what should else should I get? More snacks, cookie butter, bath stuff, candle???

Oh my goodness, what a fantastic welcome basket! So thoughtful.
Maybe a cookie mix or you could throw together a glass mason jar with supplies except for the eggs and butter? My mom always said the best thing to do to make a new house/location feel like home is to bake cookies and I totally agree -- there is something special about the smell of fresh baked cookies in a new home. A candle is also in that same vein.

maybe a list of local restaurants/grocery stores/tips to try? it was always a struggle to slowly find my way around a new town when I moved :). Especially if they have kids, tips for best pools, drop in centers, that kind of stuff?

Thats really nice, if you know her new neighborhood I would suggest a map or list of where things are like dry cleaners, supermarket, best place to get coffee....

Like PP, I was going to suggest a list of your recommendations for the local area - restaurants, parks, favorite stores, best library branch/movie theater/nail salon/etc. Menus from your favorite takeout places would probably be a big help while they're getting their house set up.

If they will get the basket shortly after moving, it would be really hand to put together a basket of stuff they will likely need right away: toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, light bulbs, tissues, batteries, laundry or dishwasher detergent.
My mom brought us a basket like this and at the time I thought it was just funny, but we used a ton of that stuff as we were slowly unpacking.
