T's school had a valentines celebration today, but we weren't allowed to bring in valentines or treats to share with the other kids. They did give us a list of addresses in case we wanted to mail them to others. I thought this was kind of strange...at least have a rule that if you bring one, bring one for everyone? I loved exchanging valentines cards as a kid!

Yes they were encouraged (and true from the toddler room on up). LO is going to be out of town for the party so she was able to pass them out before she left. She worked really hard writing all 20 of her friends names and her name and drawing hearts for them. Then we threw on fruit snacks. It was really adorable!

Yes we were encouraged to bring something and it seems the whole class participated with cards and goodies.

Yes, they did it today, and they're doing it tomorrow, too. Basically, I think it's the toddlers playing with the cards all day, but they seem to have fun!

There's no party, but as room moms, we asked the teacher if the kids could decorate a box and distribute cards and she said fine.
I personally could have done without it, but my son loved his box of cards last year and this is probably the last year for it anyway.

That is odd. They just ask that we don't address them but sign who it's from. Brought in a total of 39 valentines today!

Yep, they gave me a list of every on both preschool classes yesterday. They don't do parties, but they will make bags for the kids to take home.

Yup. They made mailboxes and got to play mailman and deliver the right name to the right mailbox. And had a little valentines party.

How sad is it that we have to remind parents that it's all or none? We had to do the same and it really ruined it for me.

They asked us to bring in a box to collect them in and to not address them, just sign who they were from.

They each decorated a bag in class and then the teachers distributed the cards for the kids to take home at the end of the day.

Like others, we were asked to bring in valentines and just sign who they were from. I did little goodie bags with bubbles, a sticker, fruit snacks and a bouncy ball. DS helped me put them together.

The kids in DS's level draw names and are supposed to bring in 1 handmade Valentine for that child. There's the option of bringing valentines for everyone else in the class, to be delivered in the parent folders, but I've noticed no one else does that. Just the 1 assigned valentine. The teacher provided a red fruit and veggie tray for an extra snack for the kids during the celebration where the valentines were passed out. But that was it. No sugar treats, no valentines passed out besides the 1 to each child. I kind of like the approach actually.

I'll be honest I would not be happy if our school gave out my home address to everyone in class.

Yes, they asked us to sign 9 cards and bring them in. I think they are having a little party today, but they send the cards home so parents can decide if the kids can eat the treats, etc.

Yes, but if we bring in a treat, it has to be store-bought due to allergies.

@winniebee: Yes we were allowed. But I agree that the restrictions they put on celebrations in daycares/schools is over the top ridiculous. So controlling!

We had to provide 10 signed valentines for the party. They told us yesterday afternoon and the party is today.

They were not allowed. But we go to a Jewish daycare, so I'm sure that was part of the reason.

We got a class list so we could bring in Valentine's for everyone and had a sign-up sheet to bring goodies for a party. We can even do homemade food items. I'm surprised to see so many people who were told not to. Class parties were always fun as a kid.
