Contractions and my water never broke - they had to do it at the hospital

ETA: at 40w2d

I had random, non-timeable contractions starting at 1:05pm (my maternity leave started at 1). I had 20 total contractions until 9pm when I felt a huge gush of blood. I went to L&D because of a history of pregnancy loss. They declared me not in labor at 12:30am because I had maybe 30 contractions in that time period. They were all random. I was sent home and told that they would see me next week. As I got home at 1, my water broke all over the floor, my stomach emptied, and contractions got serious fast. LO was born 2 hours later.

Contractions for a very long time before real labor ever even started! Once my water broke naturally, and once it was broken for me (induction).

Dd1 - water broke before contractions. ( it was about an hour- 1.5 hours after that contractions started.)

Dd2 - contractions started first, they broke my water about 10 mins before I started pushing.

Contractions - and both times my water didn't break until right after I got the epi and was almost fully dilated.

Neither!!

DD1, water broke but I never really started contractions - was induced about 12 hours later.

DD2, contractions started after a membrane sweep - the doctors broke my water in the hospital when they wanted me to start pushing.

Curious to see how it will go with DD#3!

Water broke and he was born the next night at 41 weeks exactly.

Looooooooots of hours of early labour contractions. Like 28. Then water broke and things kicked into high gear.

Woke up with broken waters. Contractions started a couple hours later.

Contractions with both spontaneous labors. My water didn't even break this last time. The doctor broke it when I was ready to push.

Water broke just like on a sitcom. POW.

With my first my water broke at 37w6d and contractions didn't start til the next day.

With my second contractions started in the morning and then my water broke like 5 times that afternoon.

for both, water broke, then contractions. first time, contractions started after about an hour; second time, they started right away.

First baby and my water broke which started contractions, second baby and the midwife broke my waters when I was 8-9cm dilated.

Water broke @ 4am while I slept. I felt a pop & sat bolt upright knowing exactly what that was! I somehow waddled to the bathroom without gushing all over & contractions started about 30 minutes later.

Contractions for a very long time, and my water had to be broken in the hospital at 9cm. Contractions started early in the AM on 39w4 and he was born early afternoon on 39w5d.

Everything in between.

LO1 I was having steady contractions to begin with but didn't think I was in labor until my water broke in my sleep.

LO2 I had 1 contraction with a water break and then no contractions after until the hospital put me on pitocin

@jaguar: "Real" contractions for about 4 hours, then my water broke in the hospital bed as soon as we arrived!

Well, I was induced... So I guess contractions first? But they never got that bad and then I got epidural and they broke my water.

Hurray for keeping that baby baking!

My water didn't break until I was in the early stages of pushing.
