Daycare is requesting sleep sacks and my 8 week old starts soon. Can’t be a swaddle kind.

We used the Halo ones without sleeves - both cotton and fleece - until our boys started pulling up and trying to walk in their cribs. Then we moved to footed sleepsacks (we like the ones from Vaenait Baby).

Ive used the Love to Dream sleep sack on both my kids. Love it.

Woolino, halo and Aden and anais (for lightweight summer although all the zippers on mine suck). Woolino is a splurge but is truly three seasons it's amazing.

Depending on the season I liked Aden & Anais, Gro 2.5 tog (for really cold nights, probably not for daycare) or WeeUrban.

I started with a zipadeezip (until my daycare wouldn't allow it anymore, something to do with new EEC rules) and then transitioned to a regular cotton Halo sleepsack. The room is always very warm so I don't want him to overheat.
At home, we use a merino wool one as we keep his room a bit cooler. We previously used baby deedee sleep sacks (both light and heavier weight) with my oldest and I like those as well.

I used Halo for both of my kids. An additional plus is that they're relatively inexpensive in the sleep sack world, which is better for anything going to daycare.

We used halo - fleece or cotton depending on the season. If you aren't picky about color there are almost always various ones on Amazon warehouse.

Another vote for Halo!
For transitioning out of swaddle our son loved his zippadee zip.

We've owned several Baby Deedee and they are my favorite, but we also have a Merino Kids one that I really like. It's also pricey; probably similar to the Woolino ones others have mentioned.

We really liked the Love to Dream too! We used the Swaddleme Pods before those for as long as my kids reasonably fit - haha!

We're a baby deedee family too! Used them for both my boys until LO2 started to refuse to wear any sort of sleep sack!

Love to dream!! It's basically the only thing lo2 has slept in since she was born. We didn't know about them when lo1 was a baby and we've never broken out our old halo sacks for lo2 since she does so well in these

Baby deedee. When my guy was tiny it was the only one I could find that was verified to have no fire retardant. I believe halo & aden and anais is too now.

@autumnlove: @Portboston: @2PeasinaPod: @Pancakes: @SweetiePie: How is Baby Deedee for daycare? Yes or no?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@matador84: I’ve never done daycare so I’m not sure what factors make it good or bad for daycare.
My favorite things about it though:
1) shoulder snaps. So much easier to put on and take off.
2) the two levels of warmth. We had thin ones that are so so soft like jersey cotton for warmer weather and rooms. Thicker and more durable than aiden and Anais, but still breathable. And the thicker ones sort of like duvets for colder rooms/climates.
I didn’t keep a ton of baby stuff between my first one and my next one. Since I wasn’t sure if I was having another. But the baby DeeDee sleep sacks were something I 100% kept because we love them so much.

@SweetiePie: Let me ask you a sizing question--my DS is only 2 months and 14 lbs and 24 inches. Medium or Small? Do they run pretty large? He's a pretty big guy.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@matador84: I do think that the sacks lasted longer than they said they would on the tag (age, weight, height), so I'm sure you'd be fine with the small. However, since you're right on the cusp I'd just go ahead with the medium if I were you and it will really last a long time. It will just be a little long on him, but they always are when you first switch to the next size up.

Halo cotton. Still using them at 15 months. We put him in fleece PJs underneath when it's cold.

Another vote for Woolino! They are pricey, but they last a long time and are high quality.

I like Halo cotton for cool-ish temps, Halo fleece for cold temps, and A+A linen for summer.
