I'm trying to get LO's medicine cabinet stocked up as we go (I'm almost 32w) and I'm wondering what types of medicine, health supplies, etc. you used the most in the first few months?
So far I have a thing of Orajel (which I figure I won't need for a while, it was a gift), a digital thermometer, a snot sucker, and nail clippers, along with a hairbrush and nail files.
What else should I get?

infant advil (the only thing that reduced fevers but we only used this at around 9 months in the first sickness we had)

I would make sure to have both infant motrin and tylenol. If the fever is really high you can alternate the two more frequently.
I also suggest the saline spray.

If you're bfing you'll need vit d drops or spray.

I bought the parents first year survival kit at babies r us and it has gas drops, gripe water, a baby safe version of Vicks vapor rub, saline spray, baby orajel, etc. it was $20 and a bottle of gas drops was $10 so it was a no brainer for me. We've only used the gas drops but I'm glad we have everything else on hand so when teething hits we can comfort LO quickly, unlike with the gas situation.

This is such a dumb question, but I assume the saline spray is for decongesting them? Like a saline nose spray? Or am I completely wrong?

@Bookworm: saline sprays does work does help to loosen up mucus before using snot sucker.

@Bookworm: yes like a saline nose spray. it also helps moisten the crusty stuff so it comes out as well.
Also, we had sunflower seed oil and almond oil for cleaning behind the ears, not sure if that counts as medicine, but we used it a lot in the early months!

gas drops, ibuprofen (motrin), maty's vapor rub (Vicks but natural), baby q tips that were gifted and are awesome!

I'd add the Vicks plug in vaporizer. And did anyone mention disposable plastic thermometer covers?
