Show me pictures or tell me specifics. What kind/color of carpet are buyers wanting these days in a bedroom? Keeping in mind we don't want to put a ton of money into it, as we are selling. I know it should be neutral....but berber? Some kind of neutral pattern? Something else? Short pile/long pile?

Maybe not helpful, but as a potential buyer, I prefer hardwood, even in the bedrooms.

I think a plush feeling low pile carpet in a neutral is a great choice for bedrooms.

I'm a huge fan of berber because of my allergies. The remnant we have in our bedroom was cut from a wall to wall carpet and it's a waffle weave I believe. The carpet is soft and has a very low pile also good for my allergies.

Low pile and easy to vacuum. So much nicer than what I have now (medium pile)!

@Pancakes: This is a current rental property that is in a transitional neighborhood. The home prices in the neighborhood don't really support fancier upgrades.

I would say hardwood or laminate but I guess that doesn't make sense in this case. I'd choose something like Berber because long carpet seems dirtier. When we were home shopping carpet was a big turn off to me because I'm sensitive about smells.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I hate berber. It always looks industrial to me. I strongly prefer just a low pile normal carpet in a light/neutral color like cream or light grey.

@Anagram: I hate Berber too and in a rental I would assume it would snag and pull too easily.
We just did a medium pile with a medium pad but paid extra for the moisture barrier on the pad for spills.
I think we ended up at like $3/ saw ft total with pad ($0.60) and installation ($0.50).

If you go with Berber low pile I'd definitely do a pattern. I feel like the non-patterned carpets look too industrial and remind me of an office.

Not a fan of Berber
Ask the people at the carpet store what works best for a rental - they may have ideas you haven't thought of yet. I think you'd want something soft, durable, and stain resistant.

@Anagram: I think that looks great but as someone with that color carpet in our house, go darker. it shows everything but if you went with a nice darker warm gray/light brown color it would hide the stains so much better.

I also think berber looks industrial. I would go with the low "regular" ol'carpet.
