Would love to see links/pics of the rugs in your playroom. Don't want anything too plush/shaggy, as LOs will be building train tracks, magnatiles etc on top, but an indoor outdoor/dhurrie rug might not feel cozy or comfortable either.

We have this one, our playroom is beachy and ocean themed - http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-whales-ev21/Blue/200BHEV21A-406.html
If you have cats, I'd be hesitant to recommend it - one of our cats will scratch it constantly and it sheds like crazy. But she's a pain and refuses to use the numerous scratching posts we have in the house. Other than that, we really like the rug - it's comfy to sit on and easy to vacuum.

We have this rug in 8x10 and were able to get it as part of a daily sale including tax for $150 (price is currently much higher on wayfair). Its vibrant and playful, which is what we are going for at least in our family room.

Also we used to have one of these shaggy rugs, an 8x10 in beige from Walmart, and was $150 before tax. It was much softer and cozier and hid dirt amazingly (even in a light beige). It lasted about 2 years before I thought it had gotten too icky (which is why under $200 is a key factor when buying a rug for me). When its time for a new rug we might go back to this because it was just super soft (and the bright chevron one is on the itchier side).

I finally removed our foam alphabet and number tiles and in the market for a new rug. I like the shaggy rugs, but we also do a lot of on the floor Lego building. Love to hear more ideas

We have those one from Rugs USA. It doesn't have a high pile so we can run cars on it and build things and is more.comfortable to sit on than a flat weave rug. I know the chevron look is done but it comes in a bunch of colors and I don't really mind it. It doesn't shed a lot either which I was happy about!

@petunia354: I actually love that rug ( am also a chevron fan). @Madison43: oh that is a good call...but I feel like they're all so rough feeling. Do they make slightly more plush ones?

@hilsy85: they make a bunch of different pile levels now (even shug) but I really think the low pile is perfect playroom flooring. Anything plush kind of impedes playing with cars and ride on toys and blocks, you know? I don't think it's rough at all but you could always through down a couple fluffy area rugs over it in the seating area or in a reading nook if you wanted a cozier feel.

Our "playroom" is just our living room, we have a Pottery Barn rug that has held up really well for years. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/adeline-rug-blue/
