When I was pregnant it was, "How are you feeling?" I know people were just trying to be nice, but sometimes the same person at work would ask every single day.

Now it's questions about LO's sleep. "Is she STTN?" "How many wakeups did she have last night?" Ugh!

When I was pregnant : "get your sleep now!"

@lawbee11: lol yep. "How are you feeling?" drives me crazy. My FIL asks every time I see him which is 2-3 times a week. He's the sweetest man, but it gets tiring to answer over and over again.

@runnerd: Same thing over here.

I also get "are you okay" every time I breathe weird and/or make a face. It's not like they are really asking if I'm okay, either, because I know if I responded with, "this pregnancy is trying to kill me," it wouldn't be received well. I know its good natured, of course.

@Mae, haha my mom said the same about my cats. She knew someone who knew someone who knew someone whose cats smothered their baby granddaughter. I was like, helloooo old wives tale.

@runnerd: That one annoys me too, although it seems harmless enough. I just don't like sharing my personal pregnancy health issues with random people, so I say "fine." Sometimes I say "fat."

Now that I have GD, I get asked by my MIL if I can eat things. It gets really old. If I can eat it, I know, and I'll eat it. If not, I'll skip and nobody has to worry about me.

"Is she sleeping through the night yet?"
If she was...do you think I would look this exhausted?
Or "Why isn't she eating cereal/food yet? Can't she have a bite of ___?"

Not really any questions but if I mention I'm not sleeping well (9 months pregnant) I get a lot of "HA. You think you're not sleeping well now?? You just wait!"

Basically that kind of comment in general. Like I don't know what I got myself in to. It's very belittling and I'm so sick of it.

When I was pregnant, I actually thought it was pretty funny how the same questions got asked over and over and over again. It was like a script:
How are you feeling? -Fine (or some variation making light of the usual discomforts of pregnancy because no one actually wants to hear that the smell of their sandwich makes me want to barf)
When are you due? -Give rough estimate to avoid a million "WHERE'S THE BABY????" questions on my due date.
Do you know what it is? -When I was in a good mood-- Nope, we aren't finding out the sex until he or she is born! When I was in a less good mood-- we're pretty sure it's a baby. (Variation-- do you know the gender? Is it a boy or a girl?)

Now that she's hear I mostly get questions about sleep. I know, from talking to other moms with babies her age, and from HB, and from most experts, that it's still fairly normal for a 6 month old to wake up at least once a night to eat. And yet, when I tell people that, I get these looks of sympathy like I'm a martyr and pooooooor me. It's actually not helpful. Ask me about her eating, because I think it's so freaking adorable and want to tell everyone about that

@Rubies: Yep, this one here too. The one time D said we were thinking about only having one (ironically, when I was still pregnant), we were told we were being super selfish and already failing as parents and our kid would grow up hateful and resentful of us.

Also, comments about his size. He's a big toddler. He's always been in the high percentiles. I'll mention how big he is sometimes (here and to family) but it really rubs me the wrong way when other people get this very exaggerated look of shock on their faces when I tell them his age. "But he's SO BIG for so young!" I didn't mind it so much at first, but after 18 months it really annoys the piss out of me. Like he's not the size of a 5 year old or anything!

"better eat bad while you still can"..... um, seriously? Just because my belly is big now, doesn't mean I need to add to it by eating like crap!
"you can try again for a boy".... no, sorry, I'm stopping at 2 kids, regardless of the fact that we won't have a boy.

@whodat: lol, I say I'm feeling fat too when people ask...

@Mae: my mil used to ask that every.single.time. I saw her! I would get so annoyed. Then again, everything she says annoys me!

When I was pregnant I hated being asked "are you ready?" as in 'are you sick of being pregnant yet?' I loooooved being pregnant. Shut up.

@Danizaur: I HATE that one so much!! And just to let you know, by the time my LO was 4 months old I was sleeping a million times better than I did during the last trimester of my pregnancy. And middle of the night wakeups are better when you have a baby to snuggle.

Right now it's, "So when are you going to have another?" And once people do know we're expecting again, I can already tell from the comments my SIL (whose a month further along) has gotten, that the question I'm going to hate is, "Are you hoping for a girl this time?"
