Our daughter is on a 16" bike with training wheels. She is getting really good at it. Once she has braking down a little better, we will probably work on loosening the trainers a bit.
What type of bike is your child using?

my kiddo has been using a balance bike since he was 3. we're thinking of getting him his first "real" bike for his 5th birthday in March.

My daughter started the balance bike at two, and transitioned to a 16 inch without training wheels at 4.

I think it's a 16", no training wheels, but he's too big for it. We'll get him a bigger bike this spring. Hopefully DD will be big enough for the 16" one by then.

DS is 3 and has a balance bike. I want to avoid tricycles and training wheels.

B is almost 3 and has a tricycle and a balance bike. We're going to get him a 16" with training wheels for his birthday. He's bike-obsessed.

Almost 4: balance bike. Going to get a 16" bike from my mom for Christmas. We're gonna take the training wheels off and go for it.

A regular bike with training wheels. But he says he wants to take them off when he turns 4 (in 43months). He has been riding this. One for two years and I have no doubt that he's ready but we just haven't gotten around to it. He also probably needs a bigger bike...

Our big girl (4yo) a 12 inch balance bike, an antique tricycle and a 16 inch bike with training wheels. Miss A had mastered the balance bike by 2.5 and I'm sure she could ride her big bike without training wheels if she was more confident!
