I haven't bought a new winter coat in years. I could really use a new puffy jacket and one that's a bit dressier. I usually like what Zara and ASOS has to offer.
What type of coat do you wear in the winter? Where do you usually buy it?

I just bought the nicest down vest! I LOVE it! I'm planning on wearing it until it's -40. Then I'll switch over into my carhart jacket. It's a work jacket but it's warm.

I have a red wool coat with Thinsulate. I think it's calvin klein or something.

Hoodies, an old peacoat or a North Face jacket.

I had good luck last year at Burlington Cust Factory. I have a grey wool Kenneth Cole that's a modified pea coat and a waist level puffy coat. I also have a lighter long red fitted trench coat I wear on rainy days that I got at Nordstrom Rack.

A super warm Canada Goose coat my sis gifted me. Best gift ever because it gets coold here. Not sure what I will wear when baby comes though.

A north face and a dressier, long coat. I need a new casual coat this year too.

When I lived in NYC and spent more time outside in the cold, I wore a thick puffy coat (down to knees).
It's a lot less cold here and I spend more time in a car or indoors, so I usually wear a wool pea coat or thicker jacket. I like Gap's options!

I have three pea coats, a short gray one, a long black one and a dressy navy blue one.
I have a Columbia jacket too but I lost the inner fleece! So I only have the wind breaker part I may need to get a new one at the Columbia outlet.

Long puffy coat! I swear by it, nothing else is warmer than down. For dressier, I love the JCrew wool coats.

Puffy coat from Land's End. I prefer their coats because I find the temperature rating is always correct. I just bought a new winter coat from them last year after having another one from them for 5 years.

I have similar ones to the links below, just from 2-3 years ago.

Oh gosh, I look terrible in the winter, but I commute on public transportation and I am always cold, so I go with a Lands End commuter coat. The one I have this year is bright green. Everyone makes fun of me, and in fact they've asked when I am breaking out the big green coat.

I also have several wool coats, but in the winter, when it's wet outside, I prefer the one in the link.

I broke down a few years ago and got a Brooklyn industries long down coat on sale one cold Feb day and I can't go back to the pea coat. Is so warm and toasty. I always thought they would look bad on me but it's fine.

Puffy coat. I have a North Face and Lands End one.

I usually keep a couple of pea coats around because I think they look nice. But I don't even think I had to break one out last year. I usually just make do with puffer vests since our winters are so mild.

Long puffy coat! I have one in black, gray, and white. I've had all of them for YEARS and none of them get super worn out or dirty since I rotate them all.

I got a nice warm puffy coat at a great price from Uniqlo last year. I'm going to need a new dressier coat, though. My wool coat is 7 years old and the lining is disintegrating.

I have a few wool pea coats that I rotate, all different colours and slightly different styles. They're from Banana Republic and Aritzia. I need a casual winter jacket but I'm struggling because I don't like how puffy ones look at alll.

A pea coat, a dress coat, a 3/4 puffer, a cape, a baby wearing coat, or a ski jacket.
I like having options.

I got a Canada Goose puffy jacket last year because of the frigid crazy winter. They're expensive but so worth it because of their ability to keep you warm and durability.
I also have a wool pea coat from that I wear when it's cold but not frigid. I also have a cashmere long coat that I wear for more formal occasions. The cashmere coat is from Max Mara and the wool pea coat is from Zara.

I have a long north face non puffy but warm jacket! Then I have 2 toggle pea coats, and then this suede w/ faux fur coat that my mom got me super long ago. I don't wear it much since it's kinda fancy but it sure is warm!

I have two down north face coats, one for "normal" winter weather and one for sub-freezing temps. I also have a JCrew wool coat which is dressier but I really don't wear it much because it isn't warm enough most of the time.

I have a short pea coat for when its cold, a longer wool coat for when its colder, a puffy vest with a hoodie for warmer days and a rain jacket for the 90% of the days when we get rain in the winter. Winter in the PNW can range anywhere from 30-55F.

@looch: oh girl. I love that coat. Hahaha.
I currently have two wool coats and a ski jacket. None are great. I'm in the market for a new one this year! I am ogling looch's link...

@mediagirl: don't be jealous, when I say mine is green, I mean it's bright kelly green. I look like a Big Green Egg.

My usual is either a lulu soft shell for quick trips on a warm day, a patagonia parka for cold days, or a wool coat for when I don't have any kids with me!

I have a couple different peacoats, and a North Face heavy one that never leaves the closet. It's too casual for work, and I never leave the house if it's that cold on the weekends. I need to sell it. Such a nice coat too.
