Ok, this is a pretty dumb question. DD has super fine hair that's turning into a lovely mullet. I'm thinking I might be able to get the back into some tiny pigtails, but my hair elastics will obviously be way too big for that tiny bit of hair. What do you use to make teeny tiny pigtails? I feel like I need the little elastics that go on braces!

Small Goody elastics. They are tiny! ETA- they are rubbery.

Even before the ones @autumnlove: suggested, we used the little gummy rubber bands, because covered elastics slid out of their baby-fine hair. When the gummies start to pull/get caught in hair, we moved on to the tiniest Goody covered elastics. Then there's a mid size that is still smaller than adult ones, but more suited to preschool/elementary school. The smallest size gets tough when they get more hair!

We use the goody ones too, I bought some other brand and there were awful but I've heard Claire's seeks good ones too.

Also use the tiny rubbery ones. And yes- the smallest size is almost exactly like the rubber bands from braces! But they are a little stretchier and colored- I imagine it would be harder getting the see through braces ones out of her hair.
Meanwhile be prepared to find them everywhere in your house once you start using them.

I think ours are scuni brand. They are tiny and probably 500 in the pack for a couple of dollars. We used the ones pictured above for our older daughter and I don't prefer them. They aren't as stretchy and they really hurt when they break. And because they aren't as stretchy they are harder to use.
And, yes, be prepared to find them EVERYWHERE in your house. The skinnier stretchier kind do break easier, but they are definitely one time use in our house.

Oops! I couldn't see the pic last night - that's what we use, too. There is a covered elastic in the same size as the largest one in that pack that doesn't pull as much if you find them too "sticky".

We use the scunci ones.

i use the tiny clear rubber elastics from CVS or walgreen. I had to try a few brands and sizes before I found some that work. my LO has had a TON of superfine long hair since she was born (its a few inches past her shoulders now at 17 months). These are the only things that stay in place. That being said, they are hard and annoying to get out.

Target has a pack of super-cheap multi-colored tiny rubber bands that I like a lot better than the name-brand hair ones -- they are stretchier, so I can get one wrapped around LOs hair 3-4x easily. I basically consider them one-use disposable though because they also break easy if you try to use them a second time!
