I tend to buy feeding supplies off the registry. I want to buy cute things, outfits, etc., but my practical side wins out.

I pick something practical from the registry, then a cute outfit too.

I try to pick the practical stuff that other people might not want to buy off the registry, like bottle nipples and nursing pads, and then a cute/frivolous thing that's fun to pick out.

For an acquaintance that I wouldn't get invited to a shower: a Sophie the giraffe or Oshkosh overalls and a cute shirt in 12 months size.
For a shower gift: someone I'm really close to I would make a fun basket with a bunch of smaller things off the registry, things I notice they are missing (Tylenol, etc.), and some homemade burb rags or bibs. If I'm not so close to them, I'd stick to one more substantial gift off the registry(activity mat, bouncer, etc.)

A&A Swaddle blankets! Although only if it's on their registry. Also the NoseFrida, since it's been a lifesaver for me and I wish I had known about it sooner!

I stick to the registry. I usually scoop up the baby monitor.
The times where I have gifted off the registry have been so stressful, but the moms seemed to really like it. My fav off-road stay item I ever gave was a monogrammed piggy bank from Things Remembered.

If we're close friends or close family I'll give something practical off the registry, a cute outfit sized up, and a bottle of stain remover.
Not so close, a Sophie, or fun socks.

If there's a bumbo on the registry, I'll buy it. If not I usually make a diaper cake for relatives and then give clothes or swaddles for friends.

AA blankets or whatever I think is useful on the registry. I never go off-registry.

I always stick to the registry. New moms don't have time to be returning stuff, no matter how useful I happened to find it.

I usually try to find things on the registry I can put together in a cute basket or something crafty like a diaper tricycle or onesie cupcakes. For someone I am really close to, I will sew items like carseat covers, burp clothes, taggie toys.

Sophie the giraffe and a pair of baby sunglasses are my usual go-to.
Sometimes I’ll also make up a bath basket: really soft baby washcloths, CA Baby sensitive ash/shampoo and some other gentle brands in case baby has sensitive skin, some bath toys.

A registry item or two, plus a favorite item or two of mine. It really depends how well I know the person, too. I really liked the A&A Burpy Bibs but most people have never heard of them, so I might throw them in.

I usually do bath stuff. I try to buy asap to beat everyone because I like to do the baby tub + cute towels, and then add in whichever soap set they prefer, and a cute bath toy.

The Boppy or any feeding pillow is usually my first choice. If that's gone or there isn't one there, I'll go for bottles/nipples/bottle accessories next.
