Happy Fourth, American bees! I'm prepping for tonight's cookout with DH and my family right now. Here's what I've got going:
Cheeseburgers
Turkey dogs
Pasta salad with peppers, olives, pepperoni, salami & fresh mozzarella
Cucumber, onion, & tomato salad with cilantro & lime
Fresh watermelon and cherries
Strawberry cake
Apple pie with frozen custard
Plus lots of beer, which I'll sadly be missing out on!

Burgers, brats, and hot dogs at SIL's. I'm bringing layered taco dip, chips, and a pan of strawberry and cream bars. I have no idea what others are bringing! I'm looking forward to a cold beer

We are Canadian, but we are having neighbours over for guac, BBQ chicken, corn, caesar salad, homemade ice cream and some fun summer cocktails! Any reason to celebrate

BIL called a couple hours ago and said "let's grill out!" So, he's bringing the meat. I have no clue what. I'm too hot to actually cook so I'm serving veggies and hummus, red, white, and blue fruit skewers, and pasta salad for sides. I picked up some vanilla ice cream so we'll have root beer floats or ice cream and berries for dessert.
I really wish I could have an ice cold beer! I'm missing my favorite summer brew.

We've got BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches with homemade coleslaw and chips. 2 kinds of veggie burgers for the vegetarians. Lots of chopped of watermelon. Cold beer and white wine. Have some shrimp in the freezer that I might thaw and grill up. Undecided if I want to heat up the kitchen and make a white Texas sheetcake, but we just bought a flat of strawberries that would taste awful good with one!

We also celebrated my niece's birthday so it was a lunch party with lots of food. We had steak, lobster, grilled chicken wings, prawns wrapped in bacon, salad, chicken curry stew, shrimp & squid salad, and crab cake balls. It was so much food, I didn't even try everything. My BIL will probably ask us to go back over there for dinner to eat leftovers.

Well, we just had a frozen pizza and salad because we had family in town who just left and we didn't feel like cooking. But tomorrow we're gonna grill out burgers, corn on the cob, and asparagus.
